Canvas Neverfulls/Speedy B's are already at $1,600 - $1,700 Canadian with the conversion. I think they will lose a lot of their entry market if they price those bags high enough to push the Canadian conversion closer to $2,500 for their traditionally "entry level" bags. My Pochette Metis were $2,300 & $2,370 CAD before tax which were already pushing my limits for canvas, and I certainly won't pay that much or go higher than that for a Neverfull!

It would be a bad decision. One of the ways LV gets people brand loyal and to BUY the higher priced leather bags is to get them hooked on the entry level/canvas bags first. If they don't capture people early when they are buying luxury at prices they can more likely pay starting out, those people will just buy into other brands instead. It would be a rather shortsighted decision to put "exclusivity" above "brand loyalty". LV has never really been about exclusivity in the way, say Hermes is, though of course the prices make them more exclusive to some than others (because frankly, even their entry level bags are a significant amount of money for most of the population of this world....more than several years wages in some instances).

I think that's part of point LV wants to make - Not as "affordable" , the other part is of course, more profit and I'm sure they still would sell, see, sell 2 bags at $2,000 to 2 people VS. 1 bag at $2,000 to 1 person and make the brand seems "more upscale"

counterfeits will have a hay day too, of course more people would buy more conterfieits since now the super fakes are too good.

It is less about affordability than it is about choice. I can comfortably afford to pay $2,500 for a canvas Neverfull. I just won't. I will spend that money elsewhere. I have a Neverfull. I think it is a great bag. But to me it is not worth $2,500. There are plenty of other beautiful totes out there (leather or otherwise).

I know, but not everyone thinks that way nor everyone can afford a $2,500 bag, to them it may not be a choice.

No, and I certainly could not always either, but then the point is they won't be buying at all if they can't afford a $2,500 canvas bag, when they can go spend their money elsewhere and will start buying into and developing brand loyalty with another brand.

Maybe that is what LV wants, but like I said, it would not be a very good strategy for developing brand loyalty and gaining or keeping long term customers, and it is also a significant departure from their history. I love LV, but it is not Hermes, and I doubt the majority of their long term customers would even want LV to be like Hermes. I certainly would not.

Not that it matters, as this is all just speculation anyway. I have no doubt there will be price increases, as usual, but I think it would be a poor business move to just discontinue their classics like the Neverfull and the Speedy (!) altogether for a long period of time (losing out on tons of customers who get introduced to the brand though those bags) and bring them back later at much, much higher prices, much higher than the pace of inflation/wages, etc. They would also need to push the prices of their leather pieces even higher to maintain the cost differential...an Epi Neverfull is $2,500 CAD right now so then that would move closer to $3,500.

I'm not a huge fan of it, however, I do like how the straps are a bit wider and I like that it comes with a luggage tag. This bag does a bit remind me of a modified Neverfull. When I got my Neverfull, I had to buy a luggage tag with it. I think with a higher price point, a luggage tag should be included like it does with this bag.

I like luggage tags on some bags. I've never used one to check my luggage but I think of it more as a return to, therefore I think it's befitting of purses too and can be quite cute. I'm not fond of key clochettes. I just don't get keeping your key right near the lock, kind of defeats the purpose of locking the bag. But I guess in theory one could just cut the leather tag off or break the zipper.

They don't look bad, esp the last photo. I guess I would think they were cuter in general if they made mini tags proportional to the handbag size and the bag itself looks like mini luggage. I agree about clochettes and the locks are useless as well. Anyway for this new tote, the luggage tag just looks stupid, like they just added it on when they realized they needed to jazz up a plain and boring bag.

Not a fan. Without a leather trim to protect, the canvas edges will be more prone to cracking. Also hate luggage tags on handbags. What is the point of them. You aren't going to check in a handbag. They are just weird purse charms then.

Sorry if this is OT, but I use luggage tags on all my bags for my Charlie Card (Boston's subway pass). I use Longchamp luggage tags because LV ones are too small for the card, which is the same size as a credit card. For me, it's practical application, not a decorative bag charm. I wish LV made ones that were big enough so they could match my LV bags.

Yeah, I can see both sides, you either hate luggage tags or you love them. I also wish they made them where they hang better, I like mine to be straight. As far as this bag is concerned, it's a no for me. I do think the tag looks more like an after thought. It's starting to look like LV designers are bored because they're either doing too much or too little!

I find using clasps from Mautto help to make the luggage tags and clouchette hang better.

I don't like the bag not having leather trim around the top to protect the canvas from cracking. It also looks like the bag is made of 2 separate pieces, possibly with glazing. If that's the case this is a no for me. A zipper would be nice too. The thicker straps looks comfy- but that's about all that I like. As someone said previously, the tag looks like an after thought. Nothing much to this bag.
