And I gotta be honest, I really hope if I ever have a guy who wants top surprise me with a bag that he'll come here, instead of go to my friends. I have maybe one or two friends whose taste I trust, I'm with my friends for their intellect and not their style. I recently had a big birthday and my friends were asking my sis what to get me and of course she suggested bags. I quickly told her to please tell them to get me gadgets instead.:graucho:

i'd do the same. i hate when people try to surprise esp my bf at the time. they really dont know what to get me. my friends dont really see why i'd pay more than $20 on a bag but i insure them thats it's an investment. oh well to answer the question form the beginning. NO , i've never been surprised with a bag. Maybe its because he knows how much they are and doesn't understand that they'd last longer than a bottle of perfume. hahaha he knows what i like and what i want...just no surprise yet....hopefully soon though:graucho:

Yes, but I had to walk him through the whole process because he didn't want to mess anything up and wanted me to have the one I wanted. He's pretty sweet, he bought me a pair of Tiffany earrings last week :smile1:

yep! the last time was for our last anniversary and he took me by the Coach store and said "have fun!":yahoo: He has yet to surprise me and pick something out himself but he knows my style pretty well and hes a good listener when I tell him about certain bags and such so I'm confident that when he does decide to completely be brave enough to get me a bag he'll do good.

No and I like it that way. My BF and I have an arrangement when it comes to gift giving. I give him nice clothes and he gives me tech gadgets. This way he has "grown-up clothes" and I have gadgets that actually work. :D

NO, never, and I thank GODDESS that he hasn't! He'd never pick something I really wanted.

I see threads on this forum from guys wanting to buy bags for women, and while it's a sweet thought :tender: I shudder at most of the suggestions. Usually the responses are all "LV" or "Rebecca Minkhoff" and I don't know what I'd do if DH bought me one of those two brands. No offense to those who like 'em, they're just not my cuppa.

Yes, my boyfriend has. Actually most my bags were "gifts" from him which I usually chose and he funds. Two occasions though he surprised me with bags but both times it was with bags that I wanted but didn't think I was able to get. The last time was a New Q groovee from MbyMJ I had tried to order online from neimans. I went through a long process of calling them and all that but they ended up cancelling my order unexpectedly because I live in Canada and it was to be shipped to my bf in LA (he was coming to see me in a few days so I thought the shipping would be cheaper).

I was pretty angry and frustrated considering the person I talked to on the phone guaranteed me it going to arrive before he left. A day or so after that there was a gilt sale on MJ and he ended up purchasing me a MJ damien that he chose but I knew about. When he arrived in Canada he opened his luggage and gave me the MJ, then he looked at me and said whats this? Beside it, partially hidden in the luggage was the groovee. I was pretty happy to say the least, two beauties =)

I've never gotten a purse as a real present from my husband. I have bought purses myself, and then the purchase was applied toward an upcoming gift.

My husband hasn't been a stellar present-giver in the past, but I am trying to help him change. First, I told him how much gifts mean to me, and he is willing to change his ways. Secondly, now, at each gift-giving occasion, I present him with a "Dear Santa" list, complete with instructions on how/where to purchase each item.

For mother's day, I don't have any purses on my list, but I probably will for Christmas.

My husband buys me bags all the time. I will admit it is usually after we have went shopping and he watches what I pick up and put down. He will go back and get it and then suprise me. He suprised me for my birthday one year with my first designer purse ever.

For Valentines Day and Mother's Day this year he took me to the boutique and let me pick out what I wanted. I love doing this as I usually end up with atleast 2 bags and some shoes and other odds and ends. The only part I hate is he makes me wait to actually open the packages until the holiday. I have one more day to wait for my Mother's Day stuff.

Twice, when I had eye surgeries. The first cataract was my first Coach bag, the second was my first Burberry. Then I detached both retinas and didn't get bags. Hmm. I'm having foot surgery next month, maybe I'll get a surprise!

Once - a guy I had a pretty intense fling with. We were strolling through the city after breakfast at our favourite hotel and we walked past Bally. I saw a really fabulous bag that I thought was brilliant and classic and he bought it for me on the spot - I use that bag at least twice a week.
