Has the Legacy Leather changed??

My new legacy wristlet in whiskey came in also, and the leather is different from the bag. It's basically looks the same as Bethy's wristlet does. I'm beginning to think that the legacy leather is just always different on each legacy product - making each one more unique. Here are pictures of my new wristlet.

This wristlet has a more pebbled leather look (like Bethy's), where my new shoulder bag is entirely made of smooth leather (sounds like it's the same as HandbagAshley's new bag).

Pomplit, your bag looks great to me! The leather looks very similar to the one I have that was bought prior to the holidays. I hope you end up enjoying it.

Like others, I have been contemplating ordering the Legacy Wristlet in Whiskey, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Thanks chuggie!! Everytime I look at the new bag it grows on me. I literally walk by it and just  . LOL

Now, darn it, I want one in black!

Yep - I think you're exactly right. I already posted these photos in my wallet thread so I hate to post them again, but my new Legacy wallet has both leather types on it. The front has the grainy/pebbled/bumpy leather (especially on the top flap) and the back is very smooth:

I agree. I ordered 3, yes 3:shame: , of the Mandy Courier from a Coach boutique. When they came, each one was different. One was super light, one was medium, and one had both. When I returned 2 of them (after choosing which one I liked the best  ) I questioned the SA why the one was so very light in color. She said it all has to do with the tanning process of each piece of leather...and each piece is different because there are no two cows alike. It just depends on how each piece absorbs the dye.

Bjara - That was smart! I should have done the same. Thanks for letting me know about what the SA said, because that does clear up quite a bit.

mokoni - Thanks for posting pics of the wallet and the differences in the leather!

Unfortunately I just got a call from the Coach store here, and they said that my one little pulled thread was not able to be repaired so Coach kept the bag. :cursing: BUT she did say that they are sending me a $423 credit. So I'm definitely keeping the "backup bag" I bought since it's now the only whiskey shoulder bag I own now. And I just looked - the whiskey shoulder bag is no longer being sold on coach.com.

I'm surprised it's gone too. I mean the whiskey is just so popular, you'd think they'd keep selling it to make more money. :shrugs:

Thanks HH! I'm SO glad I spent the extra to order a 'backup bag'. Otherwise I'd be :crybaby: .

I'm still :crybaby: because they took away the whiskey shoulder bag though. :crybaby:

Maybe when they see the natural doesn't do as well, they'll bring back the whiskey. I'd like to get a whiskey bag eventually if they get them again.

Pompilit: Glad you thought ahead and ordered a back up bag.

Pomplit, I can't help wondering if they sent you the bag in Natural, by mistake. The color in your photos more closely resembles the shade of Natural on the Coach website. Maybe that would also explain the difference in texture and weight?

I had thought that too...but if you look at the zoom of the natural on Coach.com, and then her bag, the stitching is in a different color pattern.
It looks like they did the opposite color pattern on the natural than they did on the whiskey.

^^ Thanks tlloveshim! I agree with you, I hope that they'd eventually bring back the whiskey too. It's just TDF!

^ mlbjpl - You had me worried there for a minute. LOL I just checked though, and my bag is definitely the whiskey color. It's the nice deeper color that true whiskey is and the price tag and order form all say whiskey. I had kept the hang tag from my original bag, and in comparing that, and my new whiskey wristlet, the color is basically the same. It'd definitely a whiskey bag. :smile1: In the first picture of my bag that I posted in this thread, I was using the flash, so it really did come out looking a lot lighter than it really is.

^Bjara - I didn't think of zooming in on the natural one, but I agree - looks like they did switch the color scheme from the whiskey to the natural. Interesting.

I bought my black Ali last October and it has two types of leather. The flap section is smooth and the body is more pebbled but it has softened with use and I do not think it is immediately noticable to anyone but me.

tlloveshim - I'm not so sure that the Natural color won't do as well as the Whiskey. It's beautiful IRL! I bought a Whiskey shoulder for my 17 yo daughter for Christmas. It's gorgeous on her but it didn't look quite as good on me. She's darker complected and I'm a pale skinned golden blonde. When I ordered the Natural I wasn't sure if I would like it or not but I knew I wanted something a little lighter than my daughters whiskey. It's PERFECT! It's not nearly as light as the photo on coach.com. Mine looks exactly like pomplits photos except the stitching colors are reversed.

Pomplit - You definitely have a Whiskey as the stitching is reversed from the natural. The color of the leather on your whiskey is identical to my natural though. I compared my daughters whiskey to my natural and I don't see any difference in the quality (thickness) of the leather. It could just be an optical illusion as the variation of color on the whiskey is much more pronounced making it look heavier (if that makes sense). A big plus of the lighter color is that it doesn't scratch as easily :-)
