Has Bergdorf Goodman gone downhill?

I havnt been to the NYC store in ages but wow what an experience it was once upon a time. I just ordered a bag online this morning from the designer sale (first online order in a couple years) so I will report back on how it arrives. It automatically had gift packaging selected.

Update: Bag came in dust bag in box, no extra wrapping. It's too small so I already dropped it off to send back for a refund. Let's see how the refund process goes.

I have shopped regularly at Bergdorf's for 38+ years both in person (as well as online in recent times). I love it there. I believe the decline expressed here in this thread can be said for all of retail; internet shopping and the pandemic was like a one/two punch. There is no other store which compares.

I just visited their store recently, the first time since the pandemic. The in-person experience was as nice as it had always been, although I did run into a SA who was cold faced focusing on her phone and showed little interest in my inquiry.
I've been shopping their online for a few years. I haven't run into any issues. Shipping and returns are fast.

Still love BG shoe dept, even more than Saks.

I remember a couple of years ago, when Celine box bags were hot, going and looking and every single one was scratched and dinged up. The SA shrugged and said that's how they get on the shelf. Glad I didn't order one from the store.

Most of the expert staff have left and quite frankly the brand does not carry the same prestige as it did in previous years - blame their marketing and poor management imo

Yes, totally agree about BG’s shoe dept - always the best selection, always.

of newer beauty lines. The fragrance department I find outstanding because they are the only
store in the US that carries my favorite fragrance.

No the JAR boutique is still there. Discreet & distinctive as only JAR can be!!
Bolt of Lightning, Golconda, Jarling, Bed of Roses, Diamond Water, Ferme tes Yeux,
Jardenia & Shadow are still among my all time favorites.
