Well then I guess my marriage is doomed ... I am not a patient person - after several months of my then boyfriend saying after we get married or when we are married I had about all I could take I tossed him a calendar - the only one I had at the time which was attached to my checkbook - and said pick a date or shush with the marriage talk. He picked a date and a few months later WE went and picked a ring - which I do still have but I also have several more sets that I wear depending on my mood - the latest I just got this week for Valentines.

BTW we have been together 13 year now and will have our 10th Anniversary in April..

I got proposed over the phone as i was holidaying overseas at the time. We were only been together for 3months. He surprised me with asking my parents permission before he proposed. Then He surprised me again with a ring (which he had it made thru the family jeweller), 2 weeks after i got back. I love how the ring pretty much define him, me and us.

My husband surprised me with a proposal and ring last year while vacationing in Costa Rica! We were on our rooftop terrace in the dark - it was very romantic and suddenly I realized - omg I have to go downstairs into the light and see what this looks like lol! I was worried as we really did NOT talk about diamonds (though I secretly had been looking, etc.) He did wonderful - went to a local, small jeweler and picked out a beautiful setting with a great quality diamond! Love it - phew! I did tell him later about the SATC episode where Carrie had seen a ring that she hated and told her friends, and they actually helped him pick out another one - honestly if I didn't love it - I would have been honest so we could have gotten something together....
