Has anyone used a clampless curling iron?

Are the Enzo Milano irons different somehow? Like the girl in the other video, who is the model in this video, this man touches the barrel, keeps his fingers on it and doesn't seem to get burn. If I did that with my iron, I would lose my fingers!

Do any of you put a product, like a thermal spray, on your hair before using a curl or flat iron? The one I have leaves my hair too stiff for my taste.

L4F4 - I use Redken 07 Straightening spray or Bumble&Bumble styling lotion (comes in spray and cream) which both work great and don't leave it stiff. I also don't straighten before I curl or I wait until it's dirty and curl it then which seems to hold better.

My hair curls great - I start in the middle with the clamp curl up and then kinda slide it down to the end and curl back up. It helps curl all my hair since I have layers. Hope that helps the girl with layers. It also gets all of the hair not just the ends

Thank you very much for the advice, bonchicgenre. I've been using Matrix Sleek.Look Smoothing System because it was recommended to me when I bought my Chi flat iron. It protects well and the hair does what it has to do, so no complaints there. It's just a bit stiff, like a mild hair spray, which is probably OK for most people but I'm not used to anything like that because I don't use hairspray. My hair likes Redken products, so I will try the one you use. Many thanks!
