has anyone heard about a ban letter from coach ???

I would be soooo upset if that happened to me. I mean Coach wants to sell bags right? Not stop people from buying them. Shame on Coach for handing this "ban" letter at the store and embarrassing the customer, they could mail it to her/him to save the embarassment and I'm sure some awkwardness on the SA's part.

my gosh i dont understand honestly i prob wouldnt even use it online if i were banned usually when one purchases above average amt you get to be on a VIP list NOT A BANNED one !!!

I think this is horrible. I have heard it because of too many returns and resellling as well. IMO, if a person pays the price as marked then they are free to do with the item what they see fit. The item is now their property. The retailer ( in this case Coach) got their asking price. If there are significant returns then I can see the point because it is an inventory control issue. In this economy, if people are buying then the retailer should be greatful; especially at these prices!! Coach needs to re-think their business practices because there are alot of designers who would love the business that Coach turns away!

I think in a full price store, a ban would be because you return too many things, not because they think you are reselling. At the factory stores, you know a lot of people buy for resale. There is no good reason why someone would buy 5 identical items except for bridesmaid's gifts, so they are probably reselling.
Coach has such a liberal return policy that they can be hurt by a buyer that continually returns things, especially if they return them so late that they end up at the factory. I have three items right now that I am planning on returning - I hope I don't get banned.
If I got banned, I don't see how I would be eager to ever shop at Coach again.
I think they should tell those people that they aren't allowed to return anything rather than banning them.

I'm surprised she got the letter at a full price Coach store, I thought it was only an outlet related thing. Unless she also buys a lot at the outlet and both the FP store and the outlet had their letters ready to hand to her. It's crazy.

They do have a similar letter related to returning items. No more returns, etc.

As far as the letter itself, it doesn't make sense. Coach gets their asking price, that's all they need to know, what happens to the bag after that is besides the point.

I would think that handing a letter like that in front of people would also make other customers uncomfortable. If that happened to someone when I was there, I don't know if I would purchase anything.

she basically said "what do you mean?" the SA said "it was explained in the letter and i cannot sell to you and if you hav any questions call the number below"

the lady simply took her pcp and left bt i was utterly shocked at the whole scene

There's a lot of assuming going on here. So based on only this info, many of you have decided that Coach is the bad guy and the buyer is the wronged party and shame on Coach????

I can see where Coach would be coming from if a person is constantly purchasing and returning items; sometimes it's for the best to part ways with certain people.....but...I Don't agree that you do it in front of other customers! Bad business there!

Yes, it's not good for them, that's for sure.
A Coach outlet recently opened up close to my house and I can go as often as I like now. But I'm uneasy about going too often, since they may take me for a reseller. Now when I do go, I only buy something if I am 100% sure I'm going to keep it. No taking it home to decide later if I want the bag, or taking a couple of bags home to decide which one I like the best. Where previously I did both and 95% of the time I kept the bags once I got them home.
The last time I was there I bought three items as gifts and while I was standing in line I was wondering if the SA would think I was buying to resell, LOL.

Of course I tell myself that they would be doing me a favor, but I would be verrry embarrassed to get the letter in public like that.

the fact that somone came in and was helped out for 15 mins made her descion jus lik any of us do then told you cannot purchase anything from coach while checking out is quite a interesting scene in my opinon

ive never heard of a store refusing to sell the items and thought it was an odd concept thats all and if she was to be informed of this then it should have been done through mail and the fact she is recieving any sort of mail much less pce from a company that dosent want her bussiness is very ironic im not saying its all coach's fault bt they certainly are not without fault

Playing the devil's advocate....

The SA may not have known her name until she went to check out.

Her letter probably was mailed to her but it may have crossed in the mail. Or she has a old address or fake address in the system.

She could be using someone else's PCE like lots of others on tpf do. She could have bought the PCE on eBay. I knew I was getting a PCE more than 2 weeks ago. A lot can happen in two weeks.

Wow, I hope I don't get banned! I have bought a LOT this past month! And I do shop on line a LOT and if I don't like a bag, I return it locally. That should not be a reason to ban a paying customer who loves your products!!!
