Harry Winston Engagement Ring Price Points?

I looked at a 5 ct D, SI1 at De Beers, it was listed at USD225000; it's a radiant cut. And I could get a stone in better quality for 50,000-75,000 less. So it's obvious for me and hubby that we are not going for a name brand anymore.

I really like the legacy setting from Tiffany but any jeweler can do something very similar without violating the patent design.

I was like that before when I was younger, I prefer a name brand engagement ring. but honestly now that i am older, i prefer quality stone with a good price tag over anything.

DF got me a princess cut around 5 ct from HW a while ago, i have no idea who much it was, on our first date, as a joke i told him i wouldnt marry anyone if i dont get a 5 ct princess cut from HW, so he got it, but it was a very plain setting and even though it was a HW, my mom decided to re designed it and i like it a lot better now.. soo i think what i was getting was even if it was a HW ( i wanted one) the most important thing is if u like the design or the ring than i guess its yours~ for mine i really like the redesigned one more than the original HW, so after all DF did feel like he wasted $ because he paid way more for a HW and i got it redesigned.. soo i guess the best is to go for the one that speaks to you heart

These prices are for the HW micropave cushion ring:

1.05 F VVS1: $23,700
1.27 ct: $26,600
1.52 E VVS2: $34,400
1.52 F VS1: $32,500
1.55 D VVS1: $36,700
1.7 E VS1: $36,300
2.07 F VS2: $53,400
3.00 ct: $116,000!

Obviously, HW rings carry a very large premium but they are beautiful in person. They do negotiate too and I've heard of others getting around 20% discounts before. A 2 ct ring is about double the price of a 1.5 ring.

They also can use radiant shaped diamond instead of cushions if you'd prefer that, but I don't know if the prices differ.

Hi, I recently checked with the Beverly Hills store about a ring I am selling and it retails for $101,000. It is exquisite and the classic center brilliant cut flanked by two baguette diamonds set in platinum. The center stone is 2.5 carats and the two outer ones are .4 carats. F color VVS1. Absolutely breathtaking!

Vegas Long Legs- my grandmother gave me her 2ct round brilliant H VS2 that was purchased in 1964. It was $1200! Now, I had it appraised for 17000! Good investment!

Anyways, DF and I, when we were looking for rings, went to the usual stops (Tiffany, Cartier, etc) but he is not a brand whore and couldnt understand paying so much for a name. I also wanted a 1.75 ct round center with pears on the side. I also wanted excellent quality G or better and VS1+, excellent cut. Tiffany wanted some insane price of I think 30k+. We ended up getting from a diamond dealer in NYC that was a recommendation from a friend. We saved so much money and my ring is gorgeous! He even bought me a necklace with what we saved! But...that said, if you are dreaming of a HW then I would go for it. Find a ring you fall in love with.

Hey ladies! Just wondering . . . starting to think about engagement rings :p and was trying to figure out some price points before any actual shopping begins . . . with a budget around USD 40K, what type of ring would you be able to get from HW? It's always been my dream to get an HW engagement ring but I don't know how if it's in the budget! Thanks!!

Also if anyone knows what the same budget would pull down @ Van Cleef & Cartier that would be much appreciated (sorry not a Tiffany's fan :shrugs:)

This was an interesting read. Did you ever pick out a ring for $40K back then lvpiggy? $40k was a pretty substantial amount 3 years ago. I could imagine you either going branded or going for a big rock with an unbranded designer with the info here.
