Handbag shopping ban....

I'm going through the exact same thing!! At 30 bags (and another 10 non-designer) it is getting way out of hand. I don't have any room to store them in my tiny closet and yet I keep wanting more. I would like to downsize to my top ten favorite bags and actually get some life out of them. I'm finding that I'm not using any of my bags enough to actually enjoy them.

These bags are made to LAST, so why do we keep buying new ones??

I could not agree more!! Very well said.

I'm on purse ban too! I'm saving up for a trip around the world - and I've decided I'd rather spend money on travelling than on my collection, which is already big enough. But that doesn't change the fact that I still absolutely love designer handbags, and am always trying to find a way to squeeze another one into my already-swamped collection. But I also feel that I should be enjoying these things, otherwise, what's the point? They'll just sit in the closet - and at this point, I can't get round to using all of them. I'm trying to downsize, but it's tough. Good luck! I definitely sympathise with your plight!!!!

I definitely understand, guccci gal. I'm questioning why I keep buying so many bags lately. I'm beginning to think I'm buying them for the wrong reasons ... I used to buy only twice a year and maybe four at most. But this year has been a record breaker for me ... definitely need to re-evaluate my priorities.

I completely understand why you are on a ban . After I joined this forum, I started obsessing over wanting a new purse when I just got one this July. I thought about it and I realized that if my mom paid $800 for a purse for me, I better get at least a year of almost-everyday use out of it before I even think about buying another one (and even then I would still use my current bag)!

I also think that I realized that the unfortunate trap of buying bags is that you never are completely satisfied. You can think you want a bag more than anything else, but once you get it your eye is already on another one. Good luck in following through with your ban! :smile1:

I also noticed this year that my price threshold kept going higher and higher. Two years ago, $150 for a handbag was a LOT for me. I had to give that kind of expense serious consideration.

My last handbag cost $995. :wtf:

Hey, at least I haven't technically broken $1K yet!

I'm with you! I've increased my handbag collection from 2 to 30 in a year. I'm done. I've shifted my focus elsewhere (clothes and shoes).

I agree.

I bought a lot of bags between 2003 and 2005 and I am now (with the occasional exception!) more interested in jewellery and clothes.

A bag has to be really special to tempt me, now.

after selling two of my MJ bags to finance a Marni bag i am currently bidding on, i am experiencing buyer/seller fatigue. i've been buying and selling nonstop for a long time, and i've now acquired a set of bags i truly love and see myself using for a very long while. after this marni, no more! (well, maybe for about 6 months or so, :p but i literally cannot buy any more this yr)

Thanks gang for your support...today I received my mono speedy 30 and pouchette and that is it that is all. Will have to drool over other peoples purchases because I have other bill etc. to take care of. My collection of 10 is humble but, totally awesome. Some people never own a Gucci, Prada, MJ or LV and I own all four designers man I am soooo lucky but, that is my limit because I am not fabulously wealthy(just look like I am now). All the glances I get from my hot bags makes me blush. Soooo happy with what I have!!!

This x-mas I am going to ask my partner for either an LV wallet or a Gucci one then my collection will be humble but, complete.

I think I should be on a ban too. However, I'd like to reserve the right to temporarily lift bans if I find a great bargain (like the Mulberry Phoebe I picked up at Nordstrom Rack for $199 last week!).

bleeaptn: which Phoebe? which Phoebe??!! ;) (even though I'm on hiatus....) ....inquiring minds want to know!! :graucho:

I'm with you Gucccigal!...I too, can not afford to buy one more bag...really! I'm 45 yrs old!, my bag collection will certainly out last me....what is my only child (son) going to do with all these expense bags?! Ebay?:cursing: So, I've decided to stop myself too, my Mui Mui was the last bag for a year.:s
