Hammered Gold Alhambra - Still a long wait?

When you place an order with an SA and pay the full deposit, are you ordering and paying for the piece to be made? Or are you just prepaying to reserve the piece and waiting for them to receive stock in store and when they happen to get replenished stock, it goes to you since you have “ordered” and already paid for it?

In the case of regular items that are out of stock, it is the latter. For MTO/SO items, it is the former. That is why paying for a MTO (and often a SO) often results in the piece arriving faster than a simple prepayment of a regular item (when that item has a long waitlist).

Thank you! I’m trying to get my hands on some hammered rose gold pieces and it seems to be quite difficult these days!

Yes! That's the usual procedure, it may come sooner, but expect the full time and then you may be pleasantly surprised. The last two pieces I had to wait for, I was told 6 months and one was just about 6 months and the other was about 4/1/2 months. Prepayment in full is the usual now. I am so glad that you found a SA who was able to add you to the waitlist. I have this necklace and I love it, so I'm sure it will be worth the wait.
Thanks. Unfortunately the SA has not yet sent me the payment link. I am still interested in the piece so hopefully I can be waitlisted soon.

Fingers crossed for you! Are you in the USA? If so, the wait list will open for awhile until there is a big backlog then it will close for awhile. In my experience, you need to be proactive about asking every few weeks if the waitlist is open again for preorders. When preorders open up again, you will be asked to prepay in full, and then the wait to receive your piece is about 5-6 months recently. I have not really ordered from the online boutique, but I understand that they may be more proactive about calling clients on the waitlist to let them know when it is open for preorders (vs through the physical boutiques where there does not seem to be an automatic notification list in place).

thanks - yes, I am in the US. I do have a different SA’s cell at another boutique and she told me to text her 1x a month to see when it opens. The online boutique is fantastic and she has been checking and calling me (with no updates, but that’s ok).

If anyone has the yg 10 motif hammered, has the color of your yg oxidized over time? I noticed my pave yg necklace is very deep yellow now in comparison to the newer ring. Not sure if it’s just dirty or actually changed gold color. It’s just something I’m considering while deciding on yg vs rg for the 10 motif ?

I have the hammered in RG and YG. it oxidized quickly and became darker in color after wearing it for a week! for RG, it oxidizes more quickly because of the copper alloy. For YG, it also oxidized and became more yellow.

However, I did use a professional polishing cloth and it became bright and lighter in color again :) there used to be a video of someone who owned the hammered piece and they cleaned it and it became lighter in color but they deleted their video. I followed what they did and the color came back to how it was when i purchased it in store.

Oh wow for the rose gold did it turn more pink or lighten up to become closer to yg? If you don’t mind what polishing cloth did you use?
