Especially the title of the scarf: Long Strength Deer :roflmfao: LOL

Frou frou found this fake of the pelages stole - gold medal !
http://www.bestbuyhandbagss.com/her...lage-silk-chiffon-mousseline-stole-shawl.html

This may bore people, but this is a great example to use for educational purposes, I keep getting questions ...
Part 1

Note the crummi-ness of the photos at Frou Frou's faker site:

- The photos of the hanging scarf are useless for authentication , Hermes is all about details, and these hanging photos show no details !
- No closeups of tags, and logo , hems , gotta have nice hems if it is real
- The photos are too small , not exactly blurry but not well in focus, plus the watermark is a distraction
- The colors look dishwatery - not saturated as is typical for Hermes - BUT this is a mousse

So, based solely on the photos, not knowing this came from a faker site, I would rate this as having photos that are not good enough for authentication

I hope this helps people understand why I am picky about photos !

Part 2 - education on photo quality

Again using Froufrou's site as an example ... I scrolled to other photos at the faker site

http://www.bestbuyhandbagss.com/hermes-scarf.html

Ooh, those colors are wrong on TYGER - he was NEVER Yellow & Orange - those 3 are photos of FAKE TYGERS.
Compare to all the cws of the real ones here - those are definitely FAKE

Scroll down some more - to Collection Imperiales - hello I know her ! Same model as at Hermes site, I believe that the CI photos of model & silk are taken from the Hermes site, that is, those are photos of REAL scarves. Compare those colors to the real ones here - yes, those colors look right

Summary: fakers use both photos of the fakes & authentic ones to promote their wares.

Part 3
Again at Frou frou's faker site

http://www.bestbuyhandbagss.com/her...lage-silk-chiffon-mousseline-stole-shawl.html

We know this seller uses photos of the real & fake scarves in the site

But, this seller uses photos of real and fake scarves in the site ... post 2

My artistic opinion of the scarf at this faker site is that it is ugly - dull, I am not impressed by these dull dishwatery photos - surely these are photos of a fake ?

PART 4
yet another faker site
http://www.bestbuyhandbagss.com/her...lage-silk-chiffon-mousseline-stole-shawl.html
wow these are the same BAD photos that were used at the previous faker site
Surely , the dishwatery dull scarf in this photo must be FAKE ?

Well, 2 things
1. Scroll over to the right and look at the detail pix of the hems, tags, borders etc not so sure now this is a fake
2. Go to the main page of scarves for this faker
http://www.forwest.me/hermes-scarves/

This faker seems to use ONLY photos of real scarves. Actually, it is bait & switch site - stolen (?) photos of real ones, but those are not what you receive

So, after all of this, it would appear that the mousse pelages at the site is the real deal - bad photos, good scarf, bad seller Dishwatery looking, ugly scarves may be real , simply VERY badly photographed

PART 5
This is the end !!! in case I have been boring y'all

The moral of the story is that authentication REQUIRES good photos

- Bright photos, not dark, the scarf should be well lit
- Photos should be in focus , not blurry
- The WHOLE scarf , yes they are big & a pain to photograph, but multiple photos - a quarter at a time suffice
- All the details should be there - hems, title, signature, tags, weave, closeups of design
- Dull, badly lit photos make a bright authentic scarf look fake .
- Photo quality - lighting, focus etc- should be the same for all photos, otherwise one suspects that some photos have been «borrowed»
- Action shots are not useful for authentication - those are style guides

So, hopefully, you will forgive me if I am fussy about photo quality , an Hermes scarf is all in the details and hopefully this gives you an idea of what to look for in auction photos

Thank you for the elaboration MT. I don't consider it at all fussy and consider you and sdsurf very level headed in your evaluations. I compared and do see what you mean about the duller colors. And the minute I see a photo pulled from H website in a listing, my doubts go through the roof. (But, as an e*B*ayer of many years buying and selling, this goes for any other item I see too. If the actual item I am supposed to be bidding on is not shown with real photos taken by the seller, I avoid it.) But, I also tend to avoid NWT items that look like commercial listings too.

Oh thank you for the nice words, I was worried I was boring everyone

These pictures are stolen from Malleries seller, iChic. I have no doubt that the scarf is authentic and it was sold for $999. The faker website is known to steal pictures of authentic scarves from good sellers. This is the link to the original listing:

http://www.malleries.com/hermes-sil...tole-shawl-new-i-88100-s-304.html?images=true

PS: I'm just worried with your comments on iChic pictures, now people will think their authentic scarves are fake.
