Under "Who we Are"

Our website is one of the world's leading online-stores for luxury fashion. Launched in 2006, our meanwhile more than 50 employees make sure that our product range is both continuously improved and broadened.

A quick DNS search reveals when this website was actually launched:

Domain bottegavenetabags.net
Date Registered: 2012-4-16
Date Modified: 2012-4-24
Expiry Date: 2013-4-16

Under the "FAQ"

1.Why so cheap?
We worked with Coach Outlet factory since 1992,our advantage is we can get the brand new Coach Bags at factory direct price.and we sell them online store to cut the retail cost. that is why we can offer our customer the high quality Woolrich at such low price.

I'm sure there's lots more....but this should be enough to make anyone run for the hills....:D

Edited to add the "Care instructions" for the Veneta (I don't know about you gals, but I wouldn't take an iron--cool or otherwise--to a BV bag :roflmfao:):

@Thanks boxermom!

@PsyDocJoanne "Care instructions"

That is just hilarious! Well I did look at the site briefly and smelled something fishy with the prices so didn't browse further but should have looked further into those fine prints to keep me entertained :roflmfao:

when you look under what they have as: womens cluthes it

should be clutches.. thought that was funny.. not a grammatical error

These images were stolen from Love That Bag on Malleries. Since the images are stolen, you never know what you will get. EBay will not take the listing down because the images were not stolen from another ebay listing.

I was curious to see the photos, so I clicked on the link but the item was taken down. Good detective work!

The link is not working, unfortunately, the listing is still active with bids

Another oddity--if the final bid is over $500 (it is currently at $800), payment has to be made in 2 payments because the seller's account is less than 60 days old --"Paypal Terms."

Buyers beware, if you make partial payments via PayPal you have NO buyer Protection! Stay away from this listing!

Thank you for this from someone currently looking for a Campana. I did not bid (I'm currently watching a Sloane though), but unless I checked all the listings on all the resale sites like Yoogis, Malleries, Fashionphile - which I often try to but not necessarily the already sold items - I would not have known the photos were stolen.
Thanks for keeping watch. PS: It sold for $800.00
:flowers:

I'm wondering if anyone has seen and touched any of these Bottega Veneta replicas/fake bags. How does the leather feel? And how does the leather look in person? I'm curious because I lived in Shanghai and then Shenzhen for 6 yrs. and saw the replica bag industry grow in terms of both market and skill. I was at a designer bag store once and the salesperson told me that she initially wasn't even able to tell that a bag was fake since it "had everything". She only remembered because the color was not part of the season's offerings. I imagine the weave would be easy to copy, but the leather wouldn't be? Just curious....

My first *BV* was a fake, but I didn't know it for a long time. Now that I know what real BV leather is like, I remember that there was a big difference with the fake. It was a Veneta style and the leather strips were thick, not thin like real Nappa, and they did not have the sheen or softeness that real BV Nappa leather has. The cut sides were sloppy.

There are probably countless sources of fakes so each fake may be slightly different, but now I believe I could tell a fake from real if I see them in person.

Thanks, Boxermom. When we lived in Shanghai (and then Shenzhen), it was the Prada nylon bags, the Gucci fabric logo bags and of course the ubiquitous LV brown monograms that were so blatanly faked. So as a general rule, I stay away from those bags to this day. With the growing prosperity in China, came the growth of the replica bag industry and now they have fakes for everything (even ninewest and guess bags). I haven't seen a replica BV close enough to make a judgement, so thanks for the info. :)

^I'm aware that I'm off-topic here but I wanted to tell you about my husband's travels to China. He's a retired pilot and flew to Beijing and Shanghai a lot. He always was so thrilled with all the replica shirts, watches, pens, sports bags with logos that he would bring back. One time his airplane needed an engine part but it would take a long time to get it from the U.S. A manufacturer in China managed to copy the part exactly and very quickly so the flight back wasn't delayed. He was really impressed because it saved the airline a lot of time and money.

^^off topic here, part of the reason for many easy fakes that are also done almost exactly the same if not 100% the same (not just bags, but clothing and other items) is that many of the factories doing the 'fakes' are the same factories producing the 'real' stuff for the American companies, the terrible intellectual property laws (or rather lack thereof) do not help. That aside, some of the most randomly faked items are done so beautifully that you really have to give credit to the 'craftsmanship' *shrug*

ok, back on topic....whenever i see ebay seller using the same pictures as some other reputable sites like malleries...I always wonder if it's not just the same seller under different ID selling on different sites.....all the homework buyers have to do in order to make a safe purchase these days *sigh*
