i had a bad experience with H jakarta as well. i would not recommend H jakarta to my worst enemy. and by the way, i personally think that making us spend a minimum amount of money with H before we can be placed on a wait list (assuming such a wait list really existed to begin with) is very ungracious. i am sure this is not totally an uncommon practice with some H around the world. i just get a little impatient when any boutique started treating me like i should feel privileged to be given the chance to drop a large sum of money at their store, no matter how excellent and exclusive the product is.

i think you are better off going to japan and pay a bit of a premium. you will have more choices there. good luck and have fun! :smile1:

i dont agree with their system too. i think they should be thankful when people are looking for their most expensive item in the store..

pyrexia i agree with u. i think it's giving a negative shopping customer experience. but maybe they could care less since more people keeps running after their products..

Jadeite thanks for the info jadeite!

teepotz thnks fo the info! i was planning to ask my cousin look one for me in bali..

underthesky thank u! i hope theres a europe/ japan trip ahead of me :)

not sure about that. Recently when I was there, kelly was on the shelf, and before me a tpfer also spotted exotics and birkins on display.

Yes they do display it on the shelf, but in order for them to let you purchase the Kelly/Birkin, you have to spend 2k first, my Gf always buys from Bali and she had to buy Garden party , or jige before she was "allowed" to purchase her birkin gris T 30 cm togo, the other time was her birkin blue de prusse, also a 30cm.

i just cameback to jakarta after living in the states for a while. I have always purchased my H goodies overseas, but i do notice that when I came in just to look at stuff they check out if I was waring any H stuff to wait and help me. although there are many boutiques and private sellers that do offer a wide selection oh Birkins and Kellys its very disappointing that we cant get it in the actual store without having to look good for the SAs. its crazy. like everybody suggested you should try Europe, I highly recommend TOkyO!

I agreed with teepotz that the birkin/kelly sometimes are on display in Bali but you have to spend a minimum amount of USD$2000 in order for you to buy the birkin/kelly. In Jakarta, you have to spend equivalent of usd$2000 to be able to put your name on the waitlist too. I think it's the same practice in Singapore. As one tpfer mentioned that the number of birkins/kellys that each branch can order from the headquarter depends on the sales of other products. I guess H is trying to push us to buy other stuffs before we can get our dream bag.

Hi all,

I hope I am not too late and hope this helps. My DH is in Jakarta today and he actually walked in (No H on at all!) Hermes boutique next to Hyatt Jakarta (i think, sorry, I am not local and have not been there before, DH is there for work) to ask for a Birkin.

One of the SA took out a Birkin 30cm in Epsom (I have attached pix for your viewing taken from his iPhone....sorry, if it is a little fuzzy) and the color is rouge, I think. This is actually a promotion they carry instore offered to locals only (or so they claim??) whereby you buy H products totaling to some X rupiah amount and you can purchase this Birkin 30cm at 96million rupiah. She was even willing to hold the bag for him while he emailed me the pix...

96million rupiah is already very expensive, without taking into account the X rupiah you have to spend in order to qualify for the purchase.

96 million rupiah is around USD10,600, which is above the US/Canada retail for a 30cm birkin. This is not nice.

BTW, OP should not look for birkin/kelly in China. The wait list is longer than Hong Kong, and the price is also higher than Hong Kong.

Just like others said, go to Japan if you need one and dont mind paying the premium.

Yup and thanks for pointing that out, Footlocker.

Not to mention we are talking about 30cm and not 35cm! Told DH to just drop and let go!

Good decision, KellyBeeGirl.

However, I heard from other TPFers here that Indonesia's pricing is the best amongst all asian countries. Maybe this is true except the two well-sought products of H.

No comments on that, Footlocker.

I didn't even know there's a H boutique next to Hyatt Jakarta...well my DH stumbled upon it anyway. I think he mentioned Plaza Jakarta....was too busy asking Qs about Birkin. I have never been there. What small collection of H goods I have was mostly from Singapore, so far as DH's HQ is there so I usually tag along...for shopping anyway....haha

Sorry gals, I really meant to help as I am still on the lookout for my 1st H bag....Birkin / Kelly / HAC. I am getting out of control........:smile1:
