H Boutique Or Reseller?

I love shopping from my home boutique in Chicago. I have a good relationship with my SA and SM and buy most items from my home store. However, for certain bag styles that are non B/K I wanted to dabble in, like Victoria and jypsieres (I didn't know if I'd love the style) I have purchased from realreal and annsfabulousfinds.

My only input is that yes, there are lots of beautiful bags on Instagram and SO many of them are fakes. It's really upsetting when H "experts" on the 'Gram post counterfeits and get tons of glowing comments...you know that bag sold and is now out in the wild.
I will buy from a trusted reseller but not from anyone whose primary outlet is Instagram.
Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely do my due diligence before buying from them.

Hello [emoji1309]

I shop from the Vancouver store. Their stock is limited, but they do have their steady stock of b/k/c. Whether they offer a customer is a completely different story.

I personally prefer the boutique just because I don’t ever have to worry about authenticity.

I love pink and I had wait about 6 months for a b25 in pink. But during that 6 months I’ve been offer black and other colors multiple times in b/k/c. So there’s hope :)
Thanks so much! It's great to hear from peeps that are from Vancouver and have experience of being offered at the store :)

@leanneju I feel your anxiety, I was in your shoes just about a year ago, and my local stores are about the same if not worse than Vancouver. So I mainly buy new when I travel and second hand discontinued specs from trust worthy resellers (still get bababebi’s authentication everytime I buy) I also buy from H website for small items if I really want them between my trips, as I do think one day H will start to count online history since it is the new era now.
You will feel much better once you have your basics covered and can wait patiently. Have fun with your H journey!
Lol!!! Anxiety is the right word.. Honestly I guess my feeling is because everything is unknown. I don't know whether to continue to purchase from my local boutique in hopes to get offered something I want down the road, or to save all my money and get the exact color combos I want from a reseller.

You can decide what would be your first choice. If that is available from your local H that would be
the way to go, if not then would try the reseller.
Over time, I have found some unexpected colors from resellers & have chosen that route
as I like vintage bags particularly box...
In a way it can be the best of both worlds

Since you've mentioned that your love for H is recent and you're new to the H game, give yourself more time and don't be tempted by what you see on IG. FOMO syndrome and the need for instant gratification are real so I get that, but do your due diligence if you go the reseller route (lots of good advice here). Personally, I've only bought from the boutiques and online for small items like twillys or rodeos. Although I do primarily buy from my SA, I'll buy from other boutiques/SAs while traveling if I see something I like. I also don't play "H games" and would never buy X% of a B/K/C just to score a bag. I buy what I want. If my local store was a racket, I'd try other stores or better yet, I'd plan a nice vacation in Paris and try to get something from the mothership!

This!

Give your new love time to grow fonder of you. I bet you a year from today you will be back with pics showing us a sizable collection of your Hermes family after you start reapIng dividends of building relationship with your SA. Your journey will evolve into a space where you actually get to turn down bags that do not suit your taste or lifestyle. A good friend of mine right now gets offered coveted bags at least once a month. Cos she has worked her way to that level. She calls her SA asking for KP , SA goes “none at the moment but I will keep an eye out for you. I have a bleu Nuit Kelly Cut with GHW though, if you are interested “. Yeah that’s how much she’s “earned” her stripes at her local store and how easy it’s gotten for her. I personally don’t wish to attain such status else i’d Go broke. Lol

I look forward to seeing your progress update soon

Hi, so I'm seriously torn between buying a k25 craie ghw sellier from a store or reseller. I live about a 6 hour drive away from the nearest store, over 400 miles away. I realize the item is 30K+ on the resell market and a video I recently watched showed a lady saying she spent 18k to get offered one, but it's often 20k in this time. I realize I could go visit the store once a month and establish a relationship...but I'm not sure if this store really gets that much inventory, especially this item? Not sure how common craie is, it might be semi-annual? I know I only want this item specifically and probably not any other colors until I've gotten this one first. I don't want retourne, phw, or k28 size. I'm very stubborn on this. I promised myself that if I were to only get one k25 it'd be this color and this combination, though I am open to nata or beton... nata is more seasonal rn. But I prefer the lighter edge piping color of craie and beton. I was browsing Hermes online and I have found 22k worth of items I like enough to get. So I was thinking that if I spent 30k on a reseller, I'd basically be lining their pockets with 20k when the bag itself only costs about 10-11k. It's a private seller at least from what I can see. I like the idea of getting more bang for my buck for the 20k before the bag costs... but know that if it wasn't for the prespend I normally wouldn't make the effort to buy most of these items from Hermes. I am also afraid that I end up spending over the cost of how much I'd end up paying from a reseller at a fixed price of 30k; or the store wouldn't get the stock of this item I'd want... At the end of the day it's all a gamble; but that's what worries me. Plus I'm traveling on vacation soon with an Hermes store there, I am trying to figure this out so I don't drop 5k there only to realize I should've spent it at my nearest "local" store, or just do whatever knowing that I already am going to get what I want from a reseller so I can buy freely...

In this situation what would you guys do? Let me know if you have a similar situation or experiences you'd like to share.

If you only want that one specific bag and you are sure you want it, and can afford it, etc etc then why not get the sure thing now? Teh alternative is to spend, and spend, only to have spent and wait and wait, then ultimately come up with no bag or not the one you want? The chances you will be getting that specific bag any time soon is a gamble and not guaranteed even with spending $30k at a store in the next 6-12 months, I think. If on the other hand you know you want those other items and are in it 90% for those items regardless of a bag, then get the items and consider the potential bag is icing on the cake. I just think you'll be waiting a good while and not necessarily getting that particular bag, imo.

This is a very in demand combo and Craie is not a permanent color so it’s availability could disappear at any time and be several years before being produced again, if ever. Also, though you’ve found other items you’d be okay with purchaing, given the current stock levels of all inventory, it is likely that only a small subset of those would be available for you. Hermes is very unpredictable and is best experienced with a “go with the flow” type of mentality, both for quota bags as well as other items. If you are set on this (basically) one exact combo, I’d recommend getting it from a reseller and then consider taking a more leisurely approach to starting a profile at the store for future bags. Good luck!

Since your tastes are so specific, I'd probably go for the reseller, as you know you'll get exactly what you want.

Like @acrowcounted mentioned, I'd also start occasionally shopping at your nearest H if there are items of interest to you when you can. In addition to establishing a relationship with a store/SA, it relieves the pressure when there's no immediate end game and you're simply buying things you love while opening the door to requesting bags in the future.
