I think she’s getting backlash the way Martha Stewart used to. I’ve always thought that was unfair, probably sexist.
I can see where her mannerisms might be off-putting, maybe some of her actions are as well. But I think her whole project is not that much different from what Martha Stewart has done all her life.
I think the difference is that Martha came from very humble beginnings and worked for everything she has. People respect that. Paltrow was a well-connected Hollywood princess. Her father was a producer, her mother a respected stage actress, and Steven Spielberg is a close family friend. Don't think for a minute that didn't help her career. If not for that she might have been just another pretty blonde of moderate talent trying to get ahead in Hollywood.

I agree completely that she’s had an enormous amount of help and that she’s in a privileged situation. I was comparing her to Martha only in what she’s up to with her life and her business. How they got to that stage I agree it’s radically different. Enormous respect to Martha for how she made it on her own. But I can’t disrespect someone because they had advantages.

Well we're long past 10,000 pages for one in particular.😜 I have nothing against Paltrow's wealth or success. She's done some decent acting. Just my personal impression but she doesn't seem like a very nice person. "Holier than thou" is a polite way of putting it. Less polite is what my grandmother would have said, she thinks her you know what doesn't stink.
if you're referring to the Wife, I'm guilty of negative opinions about her. but as far as people like paltrow and blake lively, I don't really care.....Gwyneth has a successful business and has won an Oscar.....Blake may be a mean girl (or not) but doesn't really bother me

Gwyneth has a successful business and has won an Oscar.
Her win has always been controversial. Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth was the critic's favorite. This is an interesting read:

ETA, I have nothing against Shakespeare in Love. It was a favorite with my daughters.

Not to mention Harvey Weinstein was the reason she got those movie roles and won her Oscar (due to all the campaigning the studios do on the actors behalf) and yet, Gwen was so lucky, she never had a problem with the guy. She is so blessed.

I’m not sure she didn’t do something for him if you know what I mean.
She says he tried whe she was dating Brad Pitt, who supposedly threatened him with bodily harm if he laid a hand on her. I also think her parents' standing and the close Spielberg connection gave her something of a protective aura. If she was fresh off the bus from Iowa things might have gone differently.

True. She just seemed to get very very lucky with that role and award.

At the time, Brad Pitt wasn't the fabulously successful A-list actor he is today, do we believe Pitt would go up against the biggest head honcho in the industry and possibly destroy his career to protect his recent girlfriend?

So what was Gwen's appeal to Weinstein? Her godfather? Her reasonably successful hard-working parents? Her talent? She was one of thousands who were blonde and reasonably talented, so why her? Something must have appealed to Weinstein to spend so much time and effort to make her a star and get her an Oscar.

I don’t know about Pitt… this was well after many big movies like Legends of the Fall, Seven, Interview with a Vampire… he was a pretty established movie star by then and worked with many big directors / stars so had solid connections in the industry.

Godfather Spielberg may have given Weinstein a call if he didn’t want to cast her directly as too obvious nepotism before the nepo baby era.

After he cast her, Weinstein may have just wanted to get the movie Oscar exposure, why wouldn’t he? Everyone does that for their movies. And he didn’t have to work hard since she was becoming an icon as half of the hottest couple back then, the short hair, the Tom Ford for Gucci suits…

Not saying it’s impossible she slept with HW but there are also other plausible explanations.

yes brad was a star at the time and she was his girlfriend and according to the book I read about weinstein, brad did aggressively confront him

See, a charmed life. Pretty, rich, loving parents, aggressively protecting BFs, a powerful predatory head of a studio who continually puts her in starring roles just because. Someone has to explain the reason.

Hollywood is a cesspool, but not for Gwen.

This story also makes Pitt look good, not that he's a stranger to using PR for his image.

IDK that brad told that story or used it but anyway, people here are gonna dislike Gwyneth and that's their prerogative
