Guilty of not using high end handbags after acquiring them!

^^Love this post! I'm also going to stop buying bags because of a good deal. I don't want to be a 'collector' because I want to rotate them as much as possible (to start using up the cost per wear) and that is my goal!!! :smile1:

Me too! I keep justifying my money saved from my "good deals" when in reality they add up fast to a lot of money anyway! I say the same thing about cost per wear...if I use it tons then it's worth the money! Now to work on that goal :)

Me three! I have gone way overboard lately. Time to reel it in and only keep the bags I am going to get a ton of use out of!

Well I don't want to take any of my high end bags to the grocery store and I'm nervous about casual busy restaurants and since these are the types of places I go on a day to day basis, I guess I just don't have a lifestyle where it makes sense to use my expensive bags as everyday bags. Fortunately, I only have a few and I love them all so I will keep trying to find occasions to use them.

So true that many of us who love high-end bags have a lifestyle that doesn't permit their casual, everyday use. But, it's only smart not to take them grocery shopping, because of accidental exposure to dirt, moisture or grease. And, if there are not so many special occasions in your life, try to create them. Invite your friends or family for some window shopping at an upscale department store. Dress up and take your best handbag - to impress! Nordstrom is a great place where you can spend the whole day, and shoppers would often compliment on your handbag choice. Find the time for fun to show off your "girls". It doesn't cost much - and you deserve it! :ghi5:

Love this! :D I have bags for all of the parties, formal social occasions, weddings, hot nights on the town, and fashion shows that my imaginary self goes to. :p:cool:

Love this, too! :giggles: On a serious note, you know, so many people comment on how much their lives are limited by the lack of socializing. And so many of us try to compensate by buying things expecting them to make us "happier". The truth is, they can't. Actually, the older we grow the more difficult it becomes to maintain friendships. Somehow it happens that we forget about people close to us who might be still interested in spending more time with us going places and doing things together. That's why quite often it's simply a matter of revisiting old relationships to have some additional "action" going. But, it's definitely not easy to be proactive about it. To remind myself, I have a huge sign ("Life is short") hanging right above my computer screen... Can't say it helps much, but some - for sure. :jrs:

I am glad to know I'm not the only one that does this. I always tell me friends about my big purchases and then they often ask me why I'm not wearing them. I recently bit the bullet and bought a chanel medium flap in caviar. I promised the SA and my husband that I will wear it everyday. I think I've worn it out 4 times in the last month. I'm so scared that if I wear it out too much, it won't be in pristine condition anymore.

My Chanel is lambskin so it's a little more delicate. I've heard the caviar leather is supposed to be tougher (I think that's why they're pricier) so I say just use it but with care!!

Guilty!
Last week, I was in Stockholm and found a great place for bag stalking. It was kind of funny/weird seeing women carry Chanel, McQueen, Hermés, Loewe etc with such ease. I'm not the same. 2 of my 3 Mulberries do get used a lot - a nylon Flight series bag is one of my everyday bags and my first choice for traveling, my Antony is my fave when out on town, and Tillie gets to spend most of her time in her dustbag, waiting to be used. So the more expensive they get, the less I use them. It's a shame, but I don't think it's something I can just change about myself.

My Lumi, Wera, Conran, PT, Adax and other less-than-300 € bags are the ones I can get myself to use. The thought of actually acquiring my HG (Loewe Amazona) is really scary, to say the truth. I'd be in a constant state of panic. The same with Chanel GST which is my other lust-after bag. Would probably feel guilty if I ever got either one of the two, since they are really expensive and I know they'd be in the same situation than Tillie - taken out of their dustbags mostly just to be admired.

I envy those who can just buy any bag and then use it with no problem...lucky ones!

If they're easily soiled/damaged due to color or material then I can see your hesitance to use every day. But if that's not the case, then I say use them, that's what you bought them for.
I can't understand people who buy something and then save it for a special occasion. I'm the opposite; I tend to use my things very soon after purchasing.
I completely understand you, the same happens to me. In my case it's because I just own 3 good ones too. One LV limited edition, one bright pink Hermes and a black Gucci. I never use them everyday and I feel horrible for having them on my closet but at the same time I don't like to take them to work, I look too arrogant in the office! Is it actually my fear to be judge like if I were reach or anything? I JUST SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY IN FASHION

I don't think you should worry so much about what others think. Most of them won't probably even notice and those who know & notice, will also appreciate your nice bags. It's your life, your money, your bags! Go for it!
