I have many gucci wallets and they have all held up really well, of course after 1-2 years you can notice some wear in the leather, but thats just normal for all leather products.. (just look at chanel lambskin products for example!)
LV may hold better because its in canvas and not leather..

I agree with Yikkie,
I went shopping to David Jones in Melbourne today to look at different wallets, l looked at YSL, Jimmy Choo, Burberry, C.Dior, Ferragamo and Miu Miu - l felt they were all made inferior compared to the quality and durability of a LV - every brand l mentioned above seemed to have incredibly poor stitching and structure

I had two Gucci wallets both deteriorated, and I had to throw them away, a LV wallet I bought at least 15 years ago is still in use, now my daughter has it, and it is in excellent condition

Of course Gucci is cheaper - the quality SUCKS!!! It is well-known, even among Chanel lovers, that there is nothing better then an LV wallet - they last forever, the quality is outstanding (man, just compare an LV zipper to any Gucci zipper), and they look darn good.

I own both and LV and a Gucci wallet and both still look brand new despite being constantly used - I switch them. I prefer the Gucci though because it is leather and they have more variety when it comes to interior styles.

I can only speak for LV, but my last LV wallet that I had (mono french purse) lasted over 11 years and I used it every day before I retired it. To replace it I got the same thing!

I already feel like the quality of the leather has deteriorated. It was my first Gucci product. I'm planning on buying Gucci or LV belts, after personally experiencing the quality of Gucci and reading about it, I will definitely buy the belts from LV.

My brother also got an LV wallet 2 months ago and it still looks new. He also got a belt and wears it nearly everyday (wore it everyday for 2 weeks when in Istanbul for holidays) and it doesn't look worn out!

I advice you not to buy products from Gucci! Don't let the name fool you!

Im contemplating between a few of the Gucci long continental wallets over LV international wallet.
However Im leaning towards Gucci because i feel its more exclusive as LV theres only very few models to really pick from. Also Gucci is cheaper :graucho:
I already own a Gucci mini flap wallet, but i feel the quality of the leather deteriorates abit too easily but it could just be an exception because mine is in light pink...

I have a few Gucci wallets. I don't really use them very much though. They just aren't as durable as LV wallets. My oldest LV wallet is a monogram travel organizer that I got in may of 2008. I have used it pretty much everyday since for the last 4 years & it still looks brand new. If you are looking for a sturdy everyday wallet, then LV is the only way to go IMHO. Good Luck!!
