I think they meant that it would have been 25 years since the first Gucci store so they commemorated the bag with the number 25.What does that mean?? It says it’s from chicago, IL store 1976 I’ll post a photo

Oh I got it now. So would it be a collectors piece or anything?I think they meant that it would have been 25 years since the first Gucci store so they commemorated the bag with the number 25.
I purchased this very vintage Gucci bag . It still has its original dust cover as box. The receipt is still attached to the box for 1976. The bag has never been used. Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this style? Also what does the “25” under the made in Italy Gucci stamp mean?
I have a very rare Gucci 1960 bag, it had been VERY well loved by my grandmother who worked at Bergdorfs in the 50s/60s. I have reglazed the edges, I need to something with the areas that have been scratched/peeling. the back of the bag is in very good condition, the inside and all the leather too....the front is embarrassing. any ideas? I was thinking of having the gucci snake painted on the front so it can hide and snake around the blemishes, or I may just sell it as is
@papertiger @Vintagegucciguy To bring this back (sorry history and knowledge are my jam lol) I just registered to make this post to ask if I have something special. The way I’m interpreting this explanation is that the artesian who crafted it is the number, and it’s under the accessories division of the company before they made GAC a subsidiary in 1979. They stopped allowing the artisans to number the bags around 1976, so if I have a numbered bag like this it’s pre 1976. What if the artisan’s number is super low like mine? Does that make it a special bag?The No 25 refers to the artisan that made it.
The signature pieces at that time were all part of a mainline luggage collection and so many still had a lot of individual artisan care when made - not to be confused with the later mass produced GAC collection (1979-'90) which can look similar.

I got a little tipsy on Xmas eve late at night and bought a sherry lined clutch to use as an iPhone case in my work tote, but maybe I need to get it actually appraised…… can you please provide some information about this bag (please note I’m not asking for authentication, just information to determine my next steps).View attachment 5942476

Thank you so very much! That’s super helpful. Its beautifully made, and in my eyes the wear on adds to the vintage charm. You can really tell when you touch it the quality and care that went into its construction.Looks '50s (post '53).
Nothing to do with GAC at all.
Sorry for brevity, gotta make breakfast![]()
@papertiger could I get a help with this bag (age and maybe a model). Is it authentic? I bought it on vinted and wanted to know if I got a real thing, thank you so much xx

I have a bag that came with the same dustbag from 2005. Same cursive “gucci” too. Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if the dust bag is original to the purse. I think the bag may be pre-serial numbers (1980s).forum.purseblog.com
Thank you. What about model and age of the bag? I have actually only asked about that in my original post.We don't authenticate at the Gucci forum anymore. I would seek third-party authentication as it may be your only legal recourse.
