Gucci serial numbers; does anyone know if they are specific to bag models or dates (like the Vuitton codes show the manufacture location and date) or should they be different for every single bag made?

For example, if two people purchased Bardot's in 2003, should the bags have the same or different serial numbers?

(Had a look at the two links, and could see no mention re the above)

The top number is the specific bag model.

hi guyss, hmm i have a question about serial number too, but on a vintage gucci doctor bag. is it werid if a serial number in the inside tag reads 378.012.3841? when most of the serial number on that vintage style bags read sumthing like this 69-02-006? thanks :]

I stumbled on this site, and it's awesome. Now about those gucci bags, I worked at Marshall Field's in the 80s, and purchased alot of the gucci's while power shopping on my lunch breaks...Some are really out of style, is there a website that has all the styles from back then? I have an all green triangle bag.. and I mean, kelly green gucci bag..as well as the same style, in all white. and I hate to sell them at a garage sale. help anyone?:girlsigh:

Hi and welcome to the PF! I would post a new Thread to see if anyone has a response.. I don't know of any site that would have the old styles but someone might? I probably wouldn't do a garage sale because people are looking for really cheap prices and I don't think you'd get too much for them.

i got this Gucci bag online, not sure if it's authentic...
Upper row is 000 0xxx (with a space in between)
lower row is xxxx
The dust bag has a Gucci tag label inside too.
It is a very unique style in Olive colour. The seller said she bought it in California. Can anyone tell whether I got a fake one or not?

bag one: top row has three digits (dot) four digits, bottom row has six
bag two: top row has three digits (dot) four digits, bottom row has four
wallet: six digits (dot) four digits

And also if you still have the price tag, the top gucci model no. should correspond with the no. on the price tag. But I have no idea how to verify the lower no. on the bag, which is also known as the serial no.

Anyone know?

yes the top number should match a number on the price tag

Question about these serial numbers...these serial #'s are supposed to be our best indication of whether a bag is real or not when buying one off of say, ebay, right?? Don't the people who knock these off also knock off these serial #'s?? And if so how can you tell which #'s are real and which arent?? Sorry if this sounds ignorant...

I am pretty sure the top row can be either 4-6 digit - that's the bags style number and even replica Guccis would have this row correct :)

The second row, I have a feeling that it should be 6 .. though I might be wrong.


I have another thought-provoking one here .. can 2 exact Gucci model has the same serial number (bottom row)? I have 2 bags that I got from a reseller that claimed to sell authentic wholesale bags, both of my Gucci 137388 has 2 same serial number when flipped. Any takers?
