I believe it can. I have tried on the small canvas version about two years ago and at the time I had an iPhone 6 Plus. The first thing I always do when looking for a new bag, especially a small bag, is to see if my phone fits. It fit snug in there but limited space for other things.
I finally took the plunge and bought a Gucci padlock two years later after it’s debut. I wanted to make sure that it would become somewhat of a classic as an investment piece and even with the price increase just this month alone, I decided to not wait any longer. Here is my new baby to add to my collection of high end designer bags.... the Gucci padlock supreme with Black and Brown leather in a size medium. I’m in love!!! P.S. this bag fits way more in it than my Chanel classic jumbo double flap even though they are both the same size in length & width.

To those who own the Gucci padlock, I had to exchange mine today due to inconsistencies on the side stitching. I had some black residue (looked like burn marks) where the stitching and leather meets with some burnt off stitches. I exchanged it for one that has flawless stitching but upon bringing it home and unwrapping the foam, I noticed that mine didn’t come with the extra fabric/leather swatches that Gucci usually provides and it didn’t come with the price tag attached like my previous one did. On top of all of this, the actual padlock hardware is a bit loose. Anyone else have experienced these things I have mentioned?
I am on the back order list for the one like that, but is more rounded.. I ordered it over a month ago. Still waiting. I hope mine is OK
I saw that one, they had it at my local Gucci boutique the first time I purchased my padlock. I had to exchange mine again because I had sent photos to my SA of the other bag I had exchanged previously and he stated to come in immediately to replace it because I was given a defect as an exchange. He also informed me that Gucci doesn’t provide the fabric/leather swatch on all of their bags. Only the first few that they receive when the bag is new to the store has it inside the zipper pocket. The replacement I got yesterday is in pristine condition since it was a brand new shipment. However, I feel like the chain is a bit lighter than the last two I received previously. I also noticed that the interior canvas sticks out a couple of millimeters when the bag is closed but it’s only noticeable when it’s sitting on a table. The padlock isn’t centered with the GG canvas either but the stitching on the bottom edge is much better than the previous bags I had/saw. I also noticed that the loops where the chain is housed is straight as the previous ones were a bit lopsided. After doing extensive image searches, I have noticed that almost all of the ones I have seen online aren’t centered with the canvas. I’m somewhat of a perfectionist so I expect luxury items to be excellent quality without flaws especially for the price we’re paying but I’ve come to realize that not everyone (those who make luxury handbags and shoes) has the same etiquette. I’m trying to convince myself that the centering of the padlock where it meets the canvas and the sticking out of the canvas on the top edge of the bag is better than having uneven sloppy stitching with frayed hems and burnt marks. And I guess it gives the bag it’s unique character. I have attached photos so there’s a better understanding of what I am referring to. Please inspect your bag thoroughly when you get it. If there is any flaws, I’d exchange it immediately. The last thing you want is to have your bag fall apart at the seams.

Congratulations. I think it's a classic. The Padlock 'family' were designed in the 1950s so it's stood the test of time. Only the chain and the 'elan; shape have changed.
Thank you! I’m in love with this bag. I was having a hard time deciding if I should go with this bicolor/canvas combo or get the all black leather because I wanted something from day to night but ultimately decided on the canvas leather combo.
From my recent experience, all three padlock bags that I have recieved had flaws. I just picked the one that isn’t noticeable from a quick glance and one with the best stitching which is my third exchange from the Gucci boutique. In my opinion, these bags aren’t perfect.
