I'm from Sydney - now living in Europe. Bought a couple of things from the rocks store and Castlereagh boutique (now closed). Also bought a money clip from the Westfield store. However, the money clip quality was dubious and broke within 6 months of use. I was refused repair or compensation when I took it to Gucci in Brussels, Belgium. Disappointed with Gucci at the moment.

Thanks for your response and sorry I didn't get back to you earlier as I am too upset to talk about this after a few exchanges with the Gucci Aust office. It wasn't about SA but the bag quality I bought. Already filed complaint with Fair Trading and pending for reply. I realise now Peace of mind doesn't come naturally when shopping at the auth store. I will open a new thread later on and I guess Gucci fans here might have a different approach when they are ready to make their next purchase with Gucci. Thanks again.

Hi Showshow, I would like to do the same, and file a complaint. Do you have a link that you can share?

Hi, sorry to hear what happened to you with your new Gucci. I understand how you feel. No one actually prepared for a deluxe goods can only lasted for a few months’ time. Considering the quality, I think mine will probably behave similar to yours soon.

I was a Gucci cheer leader decades ago and committed numerous debates with friends who were in favour of LV. I stayed away from all those branded bags for years (you only wanted to use giant bags to carry your household when you have children). The recent Gucci hunt was my first pick and planned to have more within short time to catch up with lost years. Unfortunately I have to part with Gucci under such condition.

Anyway, you may go to www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au to check info you need. However, they only mediate between parties but not able to impose any order. Ladies there are very friendly. They will contact you (10 days in my case) after you lodge in application and advise you with feedback from other side.

Then, if there is no resolution after Fairtrading, you can further your complaint to www.cttt.nsw.gov.au
With a small application fee involved. Go there and have a look.

PM me if you need so.

I live in Adelaide but regularly go to Melbourne and pay a visit to both Chadston and Collins st. I van say i have never had a bad experience. But i find the girls at the Collins st store so helpful. ..they always go above and beyond. I was on the phone with them today as they are trying to get me a bag (only 1left in Australia) fingers crossed. I think it depends on who you get and also the team as a whole. Sometimes one uppity sa can influence the rest. At the end of the day...we are contributing to their wage so they shouldn't be so uppity.

I'm from perth and I felt really insulted when I went into the store last year.i was accompanying my friend who was looking at some of the sale items but i felt that because I didn't look like i was buying anything i got the cold shoulder. They acted really uppity to me and I don't think I will ever go in there again.

Wow! Interesting read...I'm in Melbourne by the way...

I wonder if this will set some precedent on the price of a bag needing to match the quality. It's an interesting notion on bags that are worth several thousand dollars, in particular as all bags will eventually show signs if wear, if used. Can't help but wonder what sort expert witness they will bring in?

If anyone has a follow up, can you please share the outcome?

E x

I know! I am really looking forward to the case.
There was no comment on whether either customer was offered an exchange but perhaps that would lessen their stance that the quality is not the issue it is the customer.
I wonder what repairs would make it worse. Would he have had to pay for the repair?

It just seems like a lot of effort for a brand over $800. I wonder why they didn't just refund him to keep him quiet for PR moves and/or because it is just not worth the time or energy over $800.

Hello fellow Aussies! :welcome:

I'm new to Gucci, don't actually have one yet, but have my knickers in a twist over the Soho Working Tote. Do Gucci stores hold sales in Australia? I'd love this bag but don't want to fork out $1755 right after an expensive visit to New York!

Hi!
Welcome to the Forum!

Yes, Gucci do hold sales, twice per annum as far as I'm aware.

I think June and December...depending on the bag and colour, it might go on sale. Certain styles/colours don't go on sale. Is your pick a seasonal colour?

All the best

Hi E, thanks for your response! The colour is navy, I'm not sure but I'd doubt it's seasonal.. :thinkin:
