"Maison Goyard is very pleased to present "A CHRISTMAS NIGHT IN THE FOREST OF CLAMECY", a one-week pop up store at Isetan Shinjuku’s The Stage from December 14-21, 2016 in Tokyo.
Maison Goyard’s concept for this highly sought after space -widely regarded as the premier pop up shop for the world’s top fashion and luxury brands in Japan- features a whimsical, poetic and evocative environment in keeping with the festive Season, and a selection of exclusive items.
The decor of the space as imagined by Goyard takes visitors on a journey back in time to the small Burgundy town of Clamecy in the early 19th Century. Home of the Goyard family, it was also a busy center for the ancestral trade of log driving, and the Goyards were longtime members of the local guild of river transporters moving firewood to Paris. François Goyard, founder of Maison Goyard, was born there in 1828. This rich heritage proved a seminal and fundamental influence for the Maison, as its iconic Goyardine canvas was directly inspired by the cloth Clamecy log drivers would cut their workgear with, while the Chevron pattern evokes the tangling of the logs in the river.
A voyage and a tribute to the very roots and origins of Maison Goyard, the “A Christmas in the forest of Clamecy” showcase will also offer an exciting selection of exclusive Goyard items, including three world exclusive styles only available for the duration of the stage -the Mini Saigon handbag, the Mini Anjou handbag and the Belharra beach tote- all coming in an event-specific shade of Pink Goyardine canvas, and two world premieres with the unveiling of the Mini Saigon and the Belharra in white Goyardine. The Mini Anjou in white Goyardine will also be on offer."
