Goodbye Tiffany & Co forever

The quality of Tiffany jewellery is ok - but their mark ups for the "Blue Box" is huge!

I have a silver key ring and some crystal wear that I collect, but I sold my Tiffany jewellery because I felt the money could buy more in another jewellers.

I just purchased some silver pieces and am very happy with them - nice quality and weight. :smile1:
Sure, you are paying more for the name and status, but that's part of the appeal.

I have only ever bought fine jewellery pieces from Tiffany (no experience of their silver) and have had no problems at all - in fact, I am really impressed with the workmanship and quality and very happy to continue shopping there. I also find their prices not too bad here in the UK where you have to pay through your nose for 18k gold at any high street jeweller's. The prices even for 9k gold are ridiculous here.

When you shop at Tiffany's your paying for the name and the experience, its Tiffany's after all! I have been collecting their silver for over 5 years and have never had an issue, a few pieces I have been wearing daily for over 4 yrs and they still look new. Every SA I have dealt with was friendly and helpful, always A+ service never an issue.

I have only bought their gold and platinum pieces and find the quality very good. I would recommend giving those pieces another chance if they are in your budget

Ditto. All my pieces are platinum with the exception of a pair of gold earrings. I have not had any problem so far and I am very pleased that Tiffany offer free cleaning and polishing on these pieces.

I've had a few Tiffany pieces in my time, usually satisfied, the only exception was a ring purchased in NY that began to discolour, the customer service was outstanding however.

These days I usually go for a mix of handmade stuff and high end pieces ( when i can afford them :P)

I have sold most of my vintage Tiffany pieces on Ebay and have one Tiffany charm bracelet which I kept because the charms are unique. The quality of the vintage pieces are much better than the products out now IMO. I will buy vintage Tiffany exclusively for my daughter who enjoys it. I have been treating myself to David Yurman and John Hardy pieces for a few years now.

Same here! Only bought gold and platinum from Tiffany and love them all!!! I would say avoid the silver all together regardless what brand...

I like some T&Co designs, no question, but I'm not brand-focussed with my admiration anymore than I 'have to have' only Cartier or only VCA jewellery.

If I like a design by a particular brand, I will consider it. It may be possible to achieve the same or similar look from a local non-brand jeweller at a lower price, alternatively there may be an estate-option and I might consider that also. Other times, I will only go after the specific brand design.

Unfortunately for me, T&Co has discontinued so many of their designs that I adored, like the Woven collection in WG and YG, and the Petale diamond and platinum collection. On the other hand, I am definitely having a lust-have moment with the Aria collection right now as I'm starting to consider things like jewellery for my wedding.

The only thing I find personally a bit negative in the T&Co experience vis-a-vis any other jewellery store is I really don't enjoy the buying process. Having to stand up at the counter when paying in excess of $20K for a piece of jewellery is not cool in my opinion. Then again, I suspect that is simply the way T&Co does it in my city - we're relatively small and only got a store maybe 5 years ago. But it always is incredibly jostly and busy in there and it's a bit of a turn off. But that won't stop me buying T&Co - I'll just do it online ;)

There are a few pieces at Tiffany's that I would love to have and they are silver. As my user name says I enjoy the bolder look of Harry Winston more, but Tiffany's is Tiffany's! (As I break out into "Blue River" a la Holly Golightly).

I was FINALLY in there for the first time yesterday (yaaaaaa!). I tried on the bracelet pictured below and almost cried when I had to give it back. After I save my pennies it will be my first Tiffany's piece. I really hope that the quality is worth the price. It FELT really substantial (wearing it made my soul sing I swear). But after reading this thread I'm a tad worried about the longterm quality of it.

Great bracelet, I have the matching necklace! I think their quality is superb, I wear many pieces 24/7, in the shower and to the beach and have never ever had an issue.

Thanks so much that's good to know. I tend to only wear bracelets when I'm dressing up but this just screamed "wear me every single day 24/7 for the rest of your life forever". Good to know that it should hold up.
