Goodbye Tiffany & Co forever

I personally have never had any problems with them but my sister lost a bracelet because the clasp broke and she didn't realize it had fallen off and my friend has had several pieces malfunction most memorably her mesh ring has stretched to the point where it falls off every time she makes a gesture. I've also heard their engagement rings, while pretty are grossly overpriced. Not really a big Tiffany's fan I must say...

I said "Goodbye" a long time ago. Not because of the quality but because Ive grown out of my Tiffany pieces(I dont intend to buy anymore) in general. I am saving them for my daughter. Who will be old enough to wear them VERY soon...

I didn't read through this entire thread, but if you have problems with the charms falling off, just take it to a local jeweler and have them solder the jump ring of the charm. Then it'll be permanently in position and you don't need to worry about losing it.

I said goodbye to Tiffany (silver collection) about 10 years ago.
I still keep one necklace because that is the first piece I got from Tiffany (but store in my jewelry box and never wear it).
I will go with Tiffany other collections but not silver anymore...

I emailed Tiffany about the charm bracelet problem, and they said the same exact thing. You can have the jump ring soldered onto the bracelet at their store, too. If I feel brave I might go and get myself a charm bracelet.

So where do you buy now? Oh and with the popularity of platinum it will be quite pricey; but then again we can not forget that yes each metal has different grades but we also pay for that " name & style" attributed to each company that makes it. so if you really must have silver can try a chain jewelry store.

I find that the T&CO return line tends to be where majority of people write off as the extent of T&CO jewelry. I will say the higher end lines they carry are crafted quite while like another poster mentioned; but i will agree about the zoom aspect. A certain silver bar pendant i was interested in until I saw it IRL. I was somewhat shocked at how "small" the bar was IRL. I will admit at first i did not like the "thin silver chains" they used on some 1837 pieces i thought it might break/snap but after getting the interlocking circles i actually really like the thin chain. best wishes with your new jewelery

I've bought a lot of Tiffany Sterling Silver over the years. I even get my DH started in love w/ it too, but now i am falling out of love w/ them. I got my best friends necklace and bracelet. I started to let go and sell some of it that I've not used at all.

As a bit more affordable alternative to platinum I would suggest palladium ... It's a has a the same look and it's actually considered a better quality in the commercial industry. You will not find it at Tiffany's - but if you like the look and style you can find similar things from other sources. My husband and I chose palladium for our wedding rings and we've been really happy.

Hello everyone,

I grew up with Tiffany jewelry when I was fourteen working at my first job. I would save my paychecks and buy Tiffany jewelry with it. I have acquired a lot of silver jewelry, however, I feel that the quality of the jewelry I have purchased in the last 5 years has gone down. I have had multiple bracelets break and fall off of my wrist. Charms that have fallen off of the bracelet, etc. (Has anyone else encountered this?) I am paying a lot of money on such things that are supposed to be of high end quality and they are not. Because of this I must say goodbye to Tiffany & Co. You will not be missed.

The lady at the salon that does my waxing just said almost the EXACT same thing as you said in your post. She's been married 15 years and she would always ask her hubby for Tiffany's pieces on their anniversary, holidays, etc. She said lately everything is falling apart and tarnishing so quickly and she NEVER had that problem before and now she's done with Tiffany's!

I agree---for that kind of money those pieces should last a looooong time.

Definitely agree with you. I just sold all the T&Co. I have on eBay, only keeping one item because it has my bday engraved on it. Here in Melbourne it's rather common, namely the SS pieces, and for those prices I could buy white gold, not SS.

that happened with a return to tiffany bracelet that I had. only the charm fell off the bracelet. fortunately i found it and went to the Tiffany's place and they had it fixed for me (even though I had to pay for it)

but I agree, Im am pretty much done with Tiffany. It was hot years ago when i was in my teens. now? not so much
