Hello ladies!! [emoji171][emoji171][emoji171] and gentlemen!! So, I am longing for a kelly. I mean how could you not love them!? But my SA said it's rare to get/find a kelly in box leather. Is this true? Or is she blowing me off? I've been working with her for a while but I'm wondering if I should go the preloved route or if it's possible to get a kelly in box at the store. [emoji26]

Box kellys are quite rare, but they do pop up now and then. You may want to try the reseller route if you don't want a long and uncertain time frame. Many members here have been fortunate to find kellys in box leather excellent condition from various resellers. If you do decide to buy preloved, please be sure to have it authenticated first. There is a box-calf nerds thread that the lovely-Quelle Fromage started. You should take a look to see how pre-loved box looks.

Like others have said, it is very, very hard to get a box Kelly from the boutique. So your SA was not lying to you. Even if she can get you one, it may take years. The good news is, there are lots of pre-owned options out there, at a fraction of the price of a new one. Plus, box refurbishes better than maybe any other leather as long as it hasn't been ruined by dryness./dry rot. So if you get a good one, you can always send it to Spa and it should come back sparkling.

Definitely check out QuelleFromage's Box Calf through the Ages thread, and also DocRide's Vintage Bag Nightmares threat. She has a lot of info on what problems can be fixed, and which ones can't.

Thank you so much!! I love getting everyone's opinions. It really helps a lot. I'm just starting to stalk the box calf thread and have read through the vintage thread. It's amazing what a spa treatment can do.
