The NFL needs to get it together. They originally had suspended Ray Race for only 2 games for beating his fiance and it was on video! The report concludes that Brady's awareness was probable and he gets a 4 game suspension, the Pats get fined a million and lose a first round draft pick. It's laughable really. I expect Brady to appeal and probably end up with a 2 game suspension.

Although I do agree, their argument might be that Ray Rice {and others} were doing things NOT on NFL time. This was the biggest game of the year and affected every.single.person in each organization really, and their credibility and affected hundreds of million$ I suspect..
I'm not even sure if Ray Rice is employed. ?

Kind of like if you do something stupid after work you probably won't be as harshly penalized as if you did it AT work. KWIM?
Who knows though. . .

Brady's agent: 'We will appeal' four-game suspension

Tom Brady's agent went on the offensive last week to defend his client on what he believed to be illegitimate conclusions in the Wells Report.

In light of the punishment handed to Brady -- a four-game suspension without pay -- Yee went back to work on Monday night, first with a statement given to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

“The discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis," the statement reads. "In my opinion, this outcome was pre-determined; there was no fairness in the Wells investigation whatsoever. There is no evidence that Tom directed footballs be set at pressures below the allowable limits. In fact, the evidence shows Tom clearly emphasized that footballs be set at pressures within the rules.

"Tom also cooperated with the investigation and answered every question presented to him. The Wells Report presents significant evidence, however, that the NFL lacks standards or protocols with respect to its handling of footballs prior to games; this is not the fault of Tom or the Patriots. The report also presents significant evidence the NFL participated with the Colts in some type of pre-AFC Championship Game planning regarding the footballs. This fact may raise serious questions about the integrity of the games we view on Sundays.

"We will appeal, and if the hearing officer is completely independent and neutral, I am very confident the Wells Report will be exposed as an incredibly frail exercise in fact-finding and logic. The NFL has a well-documented history of making poor disciplinary decisions that often are overturned when truly independent and neutral judges or arbitrators preside, and a former federal judge has found the commissioner has abused his discretion in the past, so this outcome does not surprise me. Sadly, today’s decision diminishes the NFL as it tells its fans, players and coaches that the games on the field don’t count as much as the games played on Park Avenue.”

They tampered with the integrity of the game. That's serious in my book. I don't for a minute believe what Tom says about not knowing the 2 guys who handled the balls or what they were up to. Plus he didn't cooperate with the investigation. I'm so sick of Mr. Golden Boy and his cheating coach coasting through all the stuff they've done over the years to give themselves an edge. 4 games isn't enough and losing one draft pick isn't enough either. $1 million is a drop in the bucket to any of them.

He belongs in the category of Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire with the cheating and lying to set records in their sports.

I have actually always liked Brady - he is a local boy made good. But for me, this is a bridge too far. Not only did he cheat, but he refused to cooperate on any level with Ted Wells and his investigators. To me, he deserves 2 games for the cheating and 2 for refusing to cooperate with the investigation. The fact that he has already appealed is disgusting to me and I have lost all respect for him.

And this whole incident reinforces for me what a world class dumb a** Roger Goddell is - the fact that Ray Rice only got a 2 game suspension for knocking his wife unconscious and Brady gets 4 for cheating is disgusting. Not saying Brady should have got less, Rice should have got more!

It also annoys me to think that the 2 clowns who did the deflating will likely lose their jobs while Brady, who had to have originated the plan and put them up to do it, gets a comparative wrist slap.

Okay, rant over...

Oh, one more thing - the report findings were more probable than not, a legal term of art. In the world of civil litigation, that standard equals liability.

He's an idiot for appealing. It just makes him look like an even bigger lying whiny jerk. The best thing he can do to try and salvage his legacy is just shut up and take his suspension quietly.

That's what he would do if he had any scrap of dignity. But since he is a glorified a**hole who is used to getting his way, he'll expect to get it overturned.

The Pats are repeat offenders, he also did not fully cooperate with the investigation. Ray Rice never denied what he did, it was horrendous but not something on the field that compromised the integrity of the game.

4 games is usual punishment in the past for NFL on charges of conduct detrimental to the team.
I think Roethlisberger got 6 games in 2010 cut back to four but his was personal conduct.

Hey if you're going to use Lance as an example, then it's all or nothing.
Innocent no penalty. Guilty he's out for the season.
TB brings too much money into the NFL and isn't that the bottom line?

Geesh pacman Jones got 1.5 years for altercation off the field. He did much less than Ray Rice.

Yes I think TB will appeal. Ha ha Kraft did some serious back pedaling. He originally came out and said we accept the punishment. Then later in the day said they don't
