A tough situation all around.

I can’t see him playing for many more years. Unless there are other issues they’re contending with, seems sad they couldn’t find a way to stick it out for another season or two.

Though, I heard one of the stations wants him to commentate the football seasons after retirement from playing, so he’d be on the road anyhow?

Sad. I’m sure he was going to retire after this season since he always said he wanted to play until 45.
She really couldn’t do wait another season, after all these years?

Now Tom is probably going to play another 20 years :lol:.

Correct - he signed a contract with Fox Sports and would be a lead analyst + ambassador.
He would be away but likely would have more time for family, since he wouldn’t be practicing in the summer, all week during the regular season, etc.

Ah, didn’t think about that. That would be less time.

There must be other issues going on and this is just the catalyst. I get that they’re wealthy enough for him to never have to work again. But she has to know that football is his identity and sense of purpose and passion.

He could literally not work for a better part of the year. How is it impossible to compromise if everything else is ok?

Their kids are 12 and 9. Maybe she wants him to have more family time before they become teens? That doesn’t really make sense though because six months of the year he is always around. Kids whose parents have to work outside of the house every day don’t always get to spend a lot of together time either.

Yes! For Tom it was almost never about the money. It’s exactly what you said - his identity, purpose and passion. He’s said in multiple occasions that he doesn’t know who he is without football.

He continues to be in the best health as he gets older year by year. For this reason, if he weren’t playing, he would feel like he’s wasting his time when he could be out there on the field.
Now if his health/body weren’t on top tier shape, I’m sure he would know he is officially done.

Even though I was not a fan of their relationship in the beginning, I do believe they were great partners for each other. I do think he did his best to balance his work/home life, but clearly it wasn’t enough for Gisele.

People do grow and change over the years, which unfortunately results in the end of some relationships.

I just can’t imagine anyone telling their partner “it’s me or your life passion”.

Many options indeed :biggrin: but Tom has been my #1 for over two decades now :angel: .
When Tom is happy, I’m happy.

I always joke with my DH, the only reason I married him is because he and Tom have the same birth year :yes:

Google some of her comments, here’s just one little gem about Americans…

And I breastfed 3 kids, including twins lol, no mom should pass judgement on others decisions like this imo.
