Holy Cow Shadow122333!!!! What a fantastic job you did rehabbing that teal Gigi!!!

I am so happy everything worked out for you....I was starting to feel a little guilty I'd posted it in the deals thread after the less than enthusiastic feedback you got from some folks about it being a lost cause.

Hard work DOES pay off sometimes...Wear her it good health!!!
:smile1:

Thanks!!:D The "less then enthusiastic feedback" only encouraged me more to save her. Wearing her today and even a guy at work thought she was a nice purse??!!! Made me laugh. lol

Well, this has sure been a great learning process. I started off very carefully with a post I had read of just trying water to "blend" the stain. Didn't do a thing. I next tried the same thing but with mild soap. Didn't do a thing. I then tried a leather clearner, not a thing. Now...getting a bit desperate I took more TPF'er advise and called my leather man to see about dying it but he will only dye in black, brown or navy blue. Not what I was looking for. My husband then said there was some leather "stuff" in the shed so he brought it, I tried it (it was liquid saddle soap) and it worked. I am now very comfortable carrying this bag - still some discoloured spot (mainly the 2 pocket flaps are different colours but for some reason....only in the sunlight??? odd!) and some regular scuffs that vachetta leather normally has. I'm quite pleased. Thank you everyone for your help.

I have never uploaded pics here before so I hope this works.....

This rehab thread is a really valuable one but the photos showing the fruits of all your labor aren't showing up anymore so the thread can't show us your results!! is there anyway to add these photos back to the thread somehow? I am buying some used Legacy Vachetta bags and would love to see your photos!! Thanks, Jess

This is a great reference thread for rehabbing legacy bags. I've attached a screenshot of some of Salearea's auction pics so that you can see the water damage to the bag. Perhaps the OP would be willing to repost some of her After pictures? She did a great job and the bag was much improved!

Ok, here is a picture of after. For some reason I had no pictures left in my photo bucket. I have found one but I can take some more to show the bottom is fairly clean now. My Gigi is currently in storage waiting for spring (I am in Canada).

Can someone tell me how to insert the photo instead of a link??

LOVE this bag!! Have been watching for one for a while now. From the photo you have on photobucket it looks really great. The turtle fob is perfect. I'd love to see more photos if you get a chance to post them. And I have better luck using Image Shack to post my stuff for some reason. I couldn't get Flicker to work for me or any other site I tried.

I will, I promise! It's stored with my summer bags right now so I have to get it out and snap some new photo's. I will try to get that done this week!
