My oldest and dearest friend is turning 40 this year (we've been friends since grade 7). I have bought her the Tiffany Elsa Peretti small open heart pendant & chain for her b-day.

Is this an age appropriate gift? I really like it and I'm really hoping it isn't something that is too 'young'.

Opinions please

I think it's perfect, I'm giving a gift to a friend for her 50th birthday.
I'll probably get her a gift certificate to Tiffany's in about the same amount.
Is that okay? Or should I actually get her a gift with a gift receipt if she wants to exchange? The gift card comes in a blue box, I figure then she can pick herself or put it toward something even more pricey!

When will you give your friend her birthday gift??? Let us know if she loves it, I am sure she will adore it from someone she's known so long . . .

^Thanks for the input!

My friend's birthday isn't until mid-July but I like to be ahead of things.

IMO selecting a gift is more personal than a gift card but I can see the benefit of a gift card too...
