And, is allaborsa dropping by with the lavender/honey ice cream? Oh, please say yes, please say yes . . . :D

See you soon, pugs. Get a nice fire going. Puglets, Aunt Pam and I will be there shortly.:broom::broom:

Of course she is (right Allaborsa?!?!?). The puglets are very excited about the aunties coming and visiting, they ran off to go primp for the afternoon

Why am I not honored or excited about the prospect of EXTRA pug drool? Oh, yippee - can't wait.:blah:

*snicker*

HI FURBIES! Well, now it's officially hopeless! Half a day and I'm lost already in a big blur of pug drool and
honey lavender ice cream! I may have to go and drown my sorrows at H, as long as their AC is working...
Meanwhile, I GIVE UP ON CATCHING UP!!:whiteflag:

Hi LGA! *waves* LOL, the puglets will clean up the drool for Bonbon, they apologize about getting pug drool in Lily's snow cone :shame:

My lavender didn't survive either, allaborsa. :shucks: So, when you perfect that recipe, would you please have Guinness trot over with some for me?

Lavender honey is my absolute favorite flavor, and I would think that all you'd have to do would be to infuse the lavender flowers in the cream and heat gently until the flavor is absorbed, right? Please let me know anyway just in case Guinness eats all the ice cream on the way!

lily...if you were worried about the pugs slobber Guinness has stalagtites ..I'll send him ... but be prepared!

Oh, what a little wimp, LGA. It's not that bad, and you're not that far behind.:p

Well whatever you decide, have fun, but please do not mix the pug drool with the excellent lavender honey ice cream.

Curlin those little tails, huh?:p

And why is "Puttin on my Top Hat, Tying on My White Tie, Dusting Off My Tails" running through my head at this point? (Guess I must be remembering those pug/bow tie pictures.)

chkpfbeliever - love your shoes stash and they look comfy too!

Pam, Lily, Diva & Mojo - I'm glad that you like the flowers on the Pradas. I've a little hesitation with them at first but can't resist the comfort of the soft buttery leather.

Lily - Are you going to take a day off tomorrow to celebrate your b-day? I've done that for the past 12 years. No one can get me in the office and I rather stay home than to deal with nasty emails.

Go shoe shopping and please send me some heat from Altanta. It is 55 degrees again today and I've my wrap on in the office. Freezing !!!

I can't believe the speed that this thread is going. Miss LGA is correct. We'll ve thread #4 in a week !!

Okay, allaborsa and pamella, here's the recipe for Lavender Honey ice cream. So, no excuses now!

Honey Lavender Ice Cream
Gourmet | September 2003
yield: Makes about 1 qt

Active time: 20 min Start to finish: 8 hr (includes steeping, chilling, and freezing)

Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half-and-half
2/3 cup mild honey
2 tablespoons dried edible lavender flowers*
2 large eggs
1/8 teaspoon salt

Special equipment: a candy or instant-read thermometer; an ice cream maker

Preparation: Bring cream, half-and-half, honey, and lavender just to a boil in a 2-quart heavy saucepan over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, then remove pan from heat. Let steep, covered, 30 minutes.

Pour cream mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl and discard lavender. Return mixture to cleaned saucepan and heat over moderate heat until hot.

Whisk together eggs and salt in a large bowl, then add 1 cup hot cream mixture in a slow stream, whisking. Pour into remaining hot cream mixture in saucepan and cook over moderately low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until thick enough to coat back of spoon and registers 170 to 175°F on thermometer, about 5 minutes (do not let boil).

Pour custard through sieve into cleaned bowl and cool completely, stirring occasionally. Chill, covered, until cold, at least 3 hours.

Freeze custard in ice cream maker. Transfer ice cream to an airtight container and put in freezer to harden.

Cooks' notes:
• To cool custard quickly after straining, set bowl in a larger bowl of ice and cold water and stir until chilled. • Custard can chill up to 1 day before freezing. • Ice cream keeps 1 week.

Délicieux! I am making it tonight!

No, I've got to work tomorrow, chkpf. At least I'm an office of one, so no one will be sending me nasty emails. Oh wait! I think I gave out my address to quite a few Crafties! Guess I should be prepared to duck then.

Oh, well, at least it happens only once a year, thank God.

Pam - Have you laid eyes on any special pair at Neiman for Wednesday ??? :graucho::graucho::graucho:

You're really a trouble maker. Extra 25% off. Will have to swing by after work. :blushing::blushing:

Thanks for the lavendar ice cream !! It is too cold to eat ice cream today here but I'll save Ms. Lily's receipe for July 4th !!
