I'm so glad someone started this thread, it's been so informative!

I fell in love with the GD camel from darelgirl's pictures, where the leather looked more matte, distressed, stiff, vintage-ish. It doesn't seem like that's the one that BG or Belisimo is sending out. I wonder if it's a location thing (is it not available in the US?) or if it's a seasonal thing (fall/ winter camel vs. spring camel)?

Any thoughts on how to get the "darelgirl version" (besides going to Rome)?

So is Collonil Weather Stop the best thing to treat my GD bag with? I love that the leather is matte, and don't want to ruin it by using a product that will make it shiny. But I do want to protect it.

Collonill will not make it shiny. All the bags thatI have used it on look exactly the same. I used A LOT on each one too. :p

Good question. I would like to know as well.

I did do a little scratch test on the bottom of the camel before I sent it back. It did not show. :D

I had the same thoughts all weekend! It isn't too light for me anymore but the uniformity and lack of texture (there is a grain; it's just not pebbled) have me vacillating. As for spots, I took mine to the nail salon this weekend and put it on the empty pedicure chair next to me. All of a sudden the salon owner snatches it off the chair and places it on the dirty floor! :amazed:  I remember telling her to be careful while she was ramming it up against the dusty heating vent. And I'm in the middle of my pedicure so couldn't rescue it (and didn't want it on the chair with me to perhaps get wet). Then when my pedicurist was done, she backed up her chair smack into my bag. :amazed:  I was thinking that was it, the bag was history, but any dust and dirt wiped right off (thank goodness!).

.

I think I would have lost my mind right then and there. They should know better!

Okay, now you ladies are changing my mind. I am still in love with my black and white Darel bags - but now i'm not so sure about the caramel. I'm worried that it look cheap because it's so mono-tone - does that make sense to anyone? Am I crazy?

No, you're not crazy- I think I would feel the same way. There's something richer about the distressed/ darelgirl version that makes it almost an entirely different bag, in my opinion.

But then again, either way, it's a nice bag, so you can't really lose. I personally love the distressed one more, though, and for me, if I'm going to spend $300-something (which still feels like a crazy amount to me) and search high and low for it, I better really really love it.

Oh, no, BG is going to have a lot more camel bags by the end of the week!

Beauxgoris, the Muse is an entirely different feeling. While the GD is more casual/everyday, the Muse has a bit more of a stuffy/dressy vibe. I can see where people would fall in love with the Muse but it really doesn't make me do cartwheels. If it is your style, definitely return the GD's for it! Or maybe return two, keep one, and buy the Muse. This way you'll still have a GD in your collection.

I, too, was going for the look of Darelgirl's camel bag. My Kooba Lucy in camel comes close enough, but it would be cool to find a replica of her bag! Hers is definitely seasonal. It appears to me that GD cut corners in this new collection in order to keep the price point low. I would rather see it raised a bit for the old style leather.

Beauxgoris, Muse is great for work, it can be used as an everyday bag as well. I like the flexibility of being able to dress it up/down. I
I agree with Roey on keeping your favorite one from GD and return the rest for Muse. Good luck. -)

I was a bit iffy about my tan GD bag at first, but it's really grown on me. The color is such a nice, neutral one for spring/summer. I've been carrying the bag on and off for the last 5 days and nary a mark or scratch. It even got sprinkled on a little over the weekend and no water spots.

Honestly, I thought it was a very pretty bag. It just wasn't right for me. If you love it, I think you should keep it.

Honestly, I think it's a very pretty bag too - it definitely does not look cheap. It's a really nice neutral color and as long as it fills a need in your collection, you'll probably be glad you have it.

Same here! I'd rather pay a little more for that leather, too.

I talked to Toni of Belisimo last week, and though I wasn't sure if she totally understood which kind of camel bag I was referring to (I said "distressed" "more matte"), she said that it sounded more like the bags she was selling during the winter time.

So I'm hoping that perhaps the next fall/ winter collection will include more of the darelgirl-version camel bags. I guess this gives me some time to save up then!
