@lisang80 I am going to go against the grain and say skip adding anymore RG bracelets if you don’t like RG. If I were you, I would actually get a bracelet in YG or WG (don’t know which one you prefer). If RG was a mistake, do you really want to make more mistakes? These are costly pieces not to end up liking. Plus, you already have three solid bracelets in RG that you can wear together or alone.
Yes. I was wondering why you need to add another RG piece if you don’t love RG.

I agree with you whole heartedly. I call this chasing good money after bad. It will just be more of a reminder of a regret. I agree with cutting your losses any further and go with what you would prefer be it YG or WG.

Humble? Haha, no. Fabulous? Yes. Well thought out and cohesive? Yes. I so admire and appreciate your (and others on this forum’s) collection for your planning/vision. I am such a scatterbrained magpie, easily distracted by so many pretty things. I keep thinking I don’t need anything else, but I am easily caught up in the FOMO of LE or just limited availability (which seems to be most things) treasures. And I’m also always impressed by your photography skills!

I think I'd better move it here, not to be off-topic on the VCA family portrait thread

I admit genuinely that I feel my VCA family to be lack of diversity, for e.g. 10 motifs or 20 motifs; and that's because my Alhambra journey is currently on hold in lieu of completing other collections, or even getting passed over with new collection:lol: I've been wanting to complete my YGG family with the 10 motifs for the longest time, but unlikely I will be able to accomplish it this year alone because of others, and somewhere along the way, I've been toying with the idea to go for an alternating 20 motifs which has YGG aspect for e.g. the new 20 motifs LE Middle East YGG/Blue Agate that's newly launched last month for example. Honest opinion, I do have many many lists as other ladies here and can be undecided at times too.

I was also a scatterbrain when I started. Within a shy of 2.5 months - I got 5 pieces of 5 motifs, 1 MOP pendant, 1 sweet MOP earrings and 1 Perlee signature bangle - whilst I made conscious purchases with my SA for some pieces, the remaining - they were half impulse purchases just because the store had stocks followed by price increase. At that time, no ordering was allowed for Alhambra. Only through time, I realised some of the pieces did not work for me and I've discovered myself that (1) I "couldn't settle" , (2) quality matters over quantity and (3) in terms of aesthetics of 1 jewelry piece, more is more :lol::lol: I let go some of pieces that did not work for me, cut my losses (as a term that some of the members here have been saying) and moved on.

I must say in my particular case - this forum and our VCA community, rather than enabling me on which VCA piece(s) to add next (from the action pics or new purchases sharing threads), it has taught me a much more valuable lesson on how to streamline and curate my own VCA family. I am not easily influenced by some others before pulling any trigger - some jewelry pieces that look beautiful on others may not look good on me and most of the times, the actual pieces in real life can look different with the pics/photos :lol: and therefore, ~85% my decision on which one to go next will always come after my SA let me try the A piece, B piece, or C piece… I'm mulling over the idea of owning and wearing them, how to go for a set and work with my budget, and when the time's right, I am more than ready to pull the trigger

I have posted this before in other thread and I think it's still appropriate to re-state it in this thread too, in curating my own VCA collection, I’ve accepted that it’s not possible for me to collect all of the creations (no resources and no time to play guessing games with VCA too) and my WL may (or may not) change/evolve. So, I’d stick with pieces I’ll wear often, fuss free/easy to wear and substantial/statement pieces. I don’t need all iterations in different gold metals or different stones and they have to be different/versatile enough to justify the purchase. No dollar amount equates to the satisfaction/enjoyment I get to wear what I love/I am 100% after and this is applicable to my other purchases too, not only VCA. I feel current challenge is that whilst I try my best to plan and budget, it’s getting harder nowadays especially if the creations are not orderable (with majority of my WL are not-orderable items and closure of MTO/SO requests) and more so if they’re big ticket items :doh: I too felt frustrated at times when I got bypassed (happened before) for pieces on allocation basis. Unfortunately, it’s a reality in our current situation given VCA popularity is through the roof, and limited stocks.

I figure that it may be best to take a break once in a while, not log on to the TPF too often, and not visit the Boutique too frequent to avoid any FOMO temptation, but most importantly of all, my wallet needs to recover too

Apologies for writing this too long but I hope what I’ve been trying to say the above really makes sense 🙂

Yeah, I’ve tried to take a family picture at once but it was not possible with my current tray/drawer due to its size. I found my old smaller tray which can accommodate all 😂😂😂

@eternallove4bag I initially envisioned myself to just post this for my current VCA Flower group 🤣🤣🤣

Oh how I LOVE this pic and thank you for sharing your thoughts @BabyBenV
This is honestly my favorite thread on TPF. We all get to benefit from each other’s journey and feel a part of it too in some ways!
Now would you do the alternating Blue Agate and guilloche 20-motif solo or would you add the matching BA earrings too? Wouldn’t it be amazing if they also launch the matching 5-motif or 2-motif earrings? Now that would make for a bomb combo. I think you have the gold guilloche earrings too that can work beautifully with the BA and guilloche necklace. So many cool options to mix and match!

Yes, I have been thinking only the 20 motifs which can work with my YGG earrings and 5 motifs, or even with my large YG Frivole mirror earrings

I much prefer alternating 20 motifs (with Paved Diamonds or Guilloche) rather than single stones or single Guilloche (with the exception of Pietersite :happydance:):
  1. RG Guilloche/Carnelian (downsides are very very difficult to get true red Carnelian shades and I would be forced to create another new set )
  2. YG Guilloche/BA (not sure yet if this will be released in other markets after Middle East for now)
  3. RG Guilloche/WMOP Seoul Maison exclusive (another RG and i am no fan of MOP too with nothing to match based on what I have)
  4. YG Guilloche/Diamonds Paved (100% match with my earrings, 5 motifs and even another potential pair of YG diamonds earrings I am after :graucho:)
  5. WG Onyx/Diamonds Paved (100% match with current VA WG Diamonds pair I had or other WG diamonds earrings I have :yahoo:)
  6. RG GMOP/Diamonds Paved (not so much a fan of it because it appears a bit darker/less contrast on my skin tone)
Still mulling over which 20 motifs to go but ideally, I would like to have 1 YG and 1 WG and for WG, it’s only a clear cut option for now 🤣

The guilloche pave yg would be so versatile. The guilloche ba would go with your frivole and rdn. I am not a fan of Alhambra and frivole together, but my exception is with guilloche since it is shiny like frivole solid gold pieces and both will compliment each other beautifully.
The piest wg would go with all your wg earrings. This is no brainer. I bet you can get this if you have a good relationship with SA and they keep producing.
If nothing is perfect just wait it out. Vca releases new 20s constantly. No need to rush or settle.

Thank you again @lynne_ross for your suggestion. Yep, i will take my time and there’s no urgency for this because it’s definitely not happening this year

I am planning for other item(s) this year, so I must be discliplined and can’t afford any further distractions 🫣🫣🫣

Curious on your plan.. stay strong! I kept with my plan on pave love and it was well worth it. Need to wait for 2026 now for other items.

Thank you for your encouragement! If all's well (including if there's any potential PI next month as a contingency), it should still be happening albeit it's getting pushed over for the timeline 🤣 🤣 🤣

I will definitely make a post once I got my hands on it ✌️

Another stunning picture! How do you get the perfect light without shadows or reflected glare?

Thank you for your thoughtful ideas about collecting. I know I have repeatedly fallen into the trap of starting off with lots of smaller, less expensive items (so fun to buy, pretty and easy to wear, but ...) instead of saving for just a few better pieces. At the time, I wore and loved the smaller things, but then moved up the food chain, so to speak. I did it with no-name jewelry, then with Tiffany's, and to some extent now with VCA.

I was always a die-hard lapis fan, no need for turquoise, when my SA tempted me with an amazing shade of blue two butterfly pendant. After that, I was hooked, and have since been chasing TQ, which, as we all know at VCA, isn't easy these days. I had already passed on a 20 motif TQ/pave necklace (since I thought, well, I passed on the 20 lapis/pave, why get the TQ?, plus it was way out of my comfort zone, cost wise. Little did I know that had I bought either, I could have sold them both now for double their original cost. But I digress...). That's really the only piece I regret not buying. And I don't really regret any of my purchases - it's just there are a number of things I rarely wear, when I look at them I still like them, and I can't bring myself to sell them. A few years ago, I saw some of the lacquer butterflies here on this forum, and I've been chasing those ever since. They don't really 'match' with anything else in my collection, but they are my favorite little works of art, even if I don't wear them much for fear of damaging them. I have all sorts of pieces from the 'fauna' side of the website - I love them all, but one can't wear them together since the styles are so different.

So I really admire your ability to figure out what works best for you and to have the discipline to stick with that 'plan'! It just looks so put together. There are a number of other collections here on the forum which are similarly cohesive. I do love what I have, it's just a bit of a mish mosh. I appreciate your thoughts - they've prompted me to look to see how best to make what I have work together better.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts @meemeetoo As what @eternallove4bag mentioned this thread has been really helpful with lots and lots of great tips/advices/information.

I could try to share some perspectives/my thought process and I hope this could benefit you or all other members here. If @eternallove4bag admitted that she’s a number girl and super good with her organisation skill, I must say that I am more driven by my logical reasoning and come up with my own flowchart, options, steps to navigate given VCA has so many variables, i.e. variety of materials/metals, lines/designs, stones, jewelry types etc :lol:

I will always start with:

1) Identify which metals i am going to build up (even before going to decide which design or jewelry types to go). You can consider with what you already have and just add to make it work with your current ones, or whether you want to start fresh (regardless of your current ones). If you are clear since this 1st step, you can easily eliminate all those not relevant with your choice(s). I mentioned before that my main focus is WG so I would definitely add WG (or no qualms to add on more WG Diamond Paved pieces as long as they’re versatile designs) without doubts and I would also do YG because ~70% Alhambra offerings which I wanted to build were all in YG, including their rare/LE 20 motifs (i am so forward looking on this though so far no offers in sight 🤣🤣🤣) As a result, I could justify Frivole Mirror YG, or Lapis RdN to complement this option, and eliminate any RG offerings in sight.

2. Identify which VCA designs/collections , i.e. flora/fauna or which Alhambra you want to build. This is usually the steps where I also identify how many pieces to make a set and which pieces i am going for. I admitted sheepishly that majority has always been started with their earrings 🤣 I would think for Alhambra it will always be easier: whether 20m/10m/6m necklace, 5m bracelet or earrings (can be single VA/MA, 2 motifs, 3 motifs). Looking at what I have I will definitely do 20m/10m with 5m or 20m/10m with earrings. I agree with earlier ladies that 2 pieces are indeed sufficient to make a set.

This step - I would say it would be “All or Nothing” step and that means if I reject one - i will reject the entire collection, no in-between for e.g if I said I am not buying Malachite, I will not get any of the Malachite 5m, Malachite 3m pave earrings, Malachite Perlee Couleur line, or anything basically with Malachite.

3. In addition to Step 2 For Alhambra, i would think i will also need to decide the colored precious stones. As I think I would do YG Guilloche, Tiger Eye, Lapis, Turquoise for example - I will work towards those, or sometimes deliberate myself beyond Alhambra offerings to add from other lines that have these stones as justifiable.

And finally, after this step I will work on my wishlist/target and work with my finance. Ideally, I would be happy enough if I could grow 1 piece for each category (earrings, ring, pendant/necklace) every year; however, i do have a tendency to knock on item with higher price list first to beat any PI and the downside for this is that I may end up with some imbalance collection temporarily 🤣🤣

As other ladies have mentioned here, I also agree that the beautiful thing with VCA is that we can mix and match, for e.g. Perlee clover with Alhambra, Flowers designs with Flora designs, Bows, or even Animals pins etc :biggrin: I really have no issue to coordinate between different designs as long as they’re in the same metal or same stones to bring cohesiveness. Some even mix and match with other luxury jewelry houses as long as they’re in the same metal 🤘

The other things that are working well for me (which maaaay be unusual for some):

1. It’s super important for me to find an SA that can click with me, who’s passionate about her job and therefore could give her honest views on which could/could not work for me, and finally could help to look out for stocks. As you’re aware, precious stones have different variations of shades or translucency - so ideally, i would rely on my SA to help me looking out the ones that meet most of my preferences. Though at the end of the day, I am still in control 100% with what I choose to purchase, I would appreciate my SA’s view/suggestion/opinions which ones I’d better go with my current collection and aspiration. My SA’s views really matter and carry some weight for me in making decision for e.g. I heeded to my SA’s opinions that WG Paved Cosmos were priced too high and aesthetically they’re not for me, and there’re so many more opportunity costs I could get from other designs. This is the luxury experience I would like to have from VCA by having a genuine individual interaction as well as boutique experience. I really disliked typical SAs who are just after their commissions and thought of their jobs as mere locating stocks for their clients. If that’s the case, there’s no difference with any online EBoutique selling/purchasing method with no value add to make your luxury jewelry purchase as memorable/significant as they should be.

2. Rather than influencers’ IG/Youtube reviews to ogle at, i find more inspirations from VCA SAs’ IG videos/pictures to find which combos that would work, or even getting to know new collections I’ve never come across in the Boutique (from standard jewelry, high jewelry, or even poetic complications etc) and thereafter, I could ask my SA more information about them, look out if my store receives any free stocks so that I could view and give it a try. Sometimes, following pics fom certain collectors through TPF, IG or even XHS - it may broaden my knowledge, my inspiration and more importantly, my own resolute on which direction I would go for.

I am so sorry again to write so long on this, to be honest I am still a VCA newbie in this journey with all the other ladies here. My logical thoughts/steps on the above may work well on stuffs that are orderable; However, as I mentioned I still found some challenge after all where I need to balance my Alhambra WL vs. non Alhambra WL, orderable stuffs vs. not orderable stuffs with no definite timeline/certainty which can suddenly throw any well-thought plans out of the windows or other stuffs on allocation basis. As you know, VCA is always full of surprises and the unfortunate thing is that we all keep coming back to it and it’s very difficult to find VCA peace 😂😂😂.

@BabyBenV write away my dear because everything you wrote resonates with me not to mention I am sure it will with many others! Whatever you are doing is clearly working because you have added amazing pieces that are also most importantly wearable! I am so excited to see which pieces you add next!
Closing the loop on our 20-motif piece conversation, I am so leaning towards the WG Pietersite one for you! It’s moody and interesting. @spaul wears it so beautifully 😍

Thank you @eternallove4bag for your validation. Indeed you're one of the ladies here that inspired me with lots of your VCA RG family photos and how to style/coordinate them with your other H accessories or your outfits, your carfie, selfie, JOTD with BOTD pics 🤣 🤣🤣 Too bad I am not that adventurous and I still couldn't get (at least) half-body shots as nice as yours.

Agreed that @spaul wears her Pietersite beautifully; I enjoyed our separate conversations with her, our brainstorming ideas and aspirations 🤣🤣🤣 Through her, I learn a lot as well on other VCA insider information which I was not previously privy to.

You are too sweet @BabyBenV I draw my inspiration from our TPF friends all the time too! Like you, influencers have never influenced me through their purchases. In fact, the only influencers I follow on Instagram are ones I was already friends with before they got massive fan followings or I have met in person and enjoyed our conversations. My number one rule to follow people on IG has always been my connection with them. If I haven’t had a conversation or been able to connect then no matter how popular they are I don’t follow them! Period!
It’s my insta friends and TPG friends that I learn from the most.
Now I am curious what secrets @spaul has been privy to and will be willing to share 😝 Be ready for slew of DMs @spaul from people like me 😎
