Question for the jewelry lovers:

How many pieces of a design would you be willing to add to ‘complete’ your set?

Is it 2 pieces of the same design, or 3 or 4?

And, would adding mixed metal pieces of the same design count towards the set? For example, RG hammered necklace and WG hammered bracelet.

Mentally for me, 2 pieces make a set but if I count mixed metal pieces from the same design, I seem to have crossed that 2-piece threshold a long time ago with some of the designs 😬

In action:
  • RG hammered Magic earrings
  • RG hammered sweet 16-motif
  • WG hammered Vintage earrings
  • WG hammered 10-motif
  • WG hammered 5-motif

Such a spectacular collection as always!

I am a firm and ardent believer in mixing metals, so I think of it as a complementary set if I have pieces from the same design. I tend not to go for white gold pieces unless they have diamonds, but I do consider my RG and YG hammered pieces as part of the same set.

2 pieces generally make it a set (since I don't wear earrings... [unless VCA launches a clip on version of the Sweet Alhambra LOL]) but I am itching to get a ring at some point to further enhance the set.

Have you considered one of the Perlé rings? Diamonds or no diamonds, plays nicely with Alhambra. Food for thought.

For me, two pieces that I will usually wear together are a set. And, I generally mix pieces from different houses to make sets, which I know a lot of people don’t do.
  • Socrate BTF ring + Mio Harutaka mis-matched butterfly studs
  • WG hammered VA bracelet + WG guilloche VA bracelet (a set I wear basically 24/7, with any of my ring + earring sets)
  • Garrard enchanted palace mini bee ring with both white and yellow gold + YG Temple St. Clair honeycomb studs
  • Boodles Raindance ring + Tiffany DBTY studs, both in platinum with white diamonds
My martini diamond studs and pearl studs will go with most of my rings if I feel like changing it up.

Beautiful pieces! It depends on what you mean by “making a set”. Definitely two pieces ties things together (of either a different metal color family and the same exact design (2 vintage hammered bracelets in RG and WG) or metal colors are same and designs are similar like RG sweets with RG vintage). However I wouldn’t stop there with the “set”; but I prefer coordinating pieces, which to me is the magic of VCA because so many of their designs go perfectly together, across collections. As I am learning my personal style, I like keeping the metals the same and coordinate different collections instead. But when I think of vintage Alhambra bracelets, I have 3 in YG, and could easily add 1 or 2 more because I love a heavy bracelet stack at times. So it probably just depends on what look you’re going for. An interesting style question!

Thank you @Prada Prince :hugs:

Me and you are on the same page with regards to mixing metals, 2-piece sets and wearing the heck out of our pieces 🤗

Gosh, I was always for all-pave pieces in WG so totally get it, till I fell for the hammered WG pieces and then the WG Frivole mirror-finish🙈. I blame it on VCA’s crisp white metal! It’s sharper than any other brands, which I love!

I am here to support you as you look for your perfect ring! Which one are you considering? I vote for the pave vintage Alhambra ring or perlee as @CoastalCouture suggested♥️

I love that you mix pieces from different brands @mocktail
I hadn’t thought of that although I do tend to pair my Bvlgari serpenti pieces with VCA butterfly and Frivole ones.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful combos! Would love pics of some of your combos if you are up for it♥️

Thank you @Swellgal ♥️

I know what you mean. The beauty of VCA indeed lies in the fact as to how well each design coordinates with others! I do tend to mix and match my butterfly and Frivole pieces or Frivole and they work.

That’s the reason there are a couple of pieces that I have no second pairing of - my WMOP/Pave butterfly BtF ring and my Guilloche/pave 5-motif. I don’t own any other guilloche or butterfly pieces but they coordinate so well with other VCA pieces that I tempted as I get to add another piece, till now I have resisted.

The term ‘sets’ is open to interpretation and I am loving seeing how each of us interpret it differently ♥️

I would love the crossover Perlee ring, as well as the Perlee Clover and Sweet Clover rings, but I think they are outside of my budget to be honest. I'm not as much a fan of the plain Perlee offering as much.

Hehe, I can see that with your beautiful pieces. Currently, my top choice is the WG Sweet Alhambra pave ring, as I think the sweet size is more wearable on a daily basis compared to the vintage size. I would have preferred it in YG or RG, but given that it's pave, it looks spectacular in WG in any case.

But I would like to get the YG hammered 5-motif bracelet first if possible. I'm hoping to get either piece in Tokyo when I go during my Eid break, so we shall see if they can deliver something!

@Prada Prince Oh you can’t go wrong with a pave ring so absolutely yes to the sweet size! As @EpiFanatic would say it’s a like ‘a line of fire’ 🤗♥😍 and I agree!
🤞🏼 you are able to get your hands on the hammered 5-motif in YG! Given how popular the hammered line is I wish VCA would devote more skilled artisans towards it to meet demand!

For me, I like 2 pieces as a set (to wear at the same time) but really like having 3 pieces so I can switch up which 2 of the 3 I'd wear at once. Not that I wouldn't wear 3 pieces, but would save that for a particular instance warranting all 3.

As for mixing metals, I can and have done it but I prefer the cohesive look of all one metal, or one metal as primary and the other as a supporting act, like when I wear my TT Rolex. I hope to be able to do that as I add to my collection, but the pieces I wanted to do that with are elusive (I'm looking at you WG Perlee d'or bracelet!)....and when mixing I'd try to stick with the same theme or style as the piece in the other metal.
Yes, I'm marginally OCD

@Prada Prince i think the crossover would be exceptional on you. I love the single row ring as it is so elegant and chic. The crossover makes a bit more of a statement as it has more modern vibes. Don’t know if I’ve posted these when I was trying it on in Hong Kong.

You put in words what I truly feel @WingNut 😍 Even though mentally 2 pieces make a set for me, I find myself with 3 pieces (no clue how or why) but I think it’s because I like to have the option of wearing different combos like earrings and ring or earrings and pendant!

Hehe to a certain degree I am OCD too but recently, been mixing WG and RG but I will wear at least 2 of each metal to still pull the look together!

So much fun learning how everyone here styles their pieces ♥️

I love the crossover and almost came close to getting it myself! Looks beautiful on you @EpiFanatic 😍
I have a feeling the crossover perlee bracelets might be getting released in the next 1-2 years!

Now that’s edgy for VCA! Would be really interesting to try on. And if the single row is no longer an option that might work for some people. Although honestly I don’t understand why the single row is that hard to make. Is it just the hours of labor to set all those little stones? Sourcing the diamonds can’t be hard. Maybe it’s finding the quality of cut they require. They should cut their own stones. It would be so much simpler.
