OMG, I'm almost embarassed to post here among the Tano experts! But everyone had a first post at one time, right ;)

I'd like to buy my first Tano as a b-day present to myself, but I'm all over the place deciding on which style. Normally I buy Dooney, but I love the look of these bags. Since I'm a Dooney chick, obviously I'm used to a more structured bag. So I need some help! Would any of you like to chime in?!

The choices are:

Boogie - Cool bag but the strap looks really stiff
Biker Babe - Looks really, really slouchy for a Dooney chick
Every Stitch - Love this style
French Nanny - Actually ordered this and returned it but it was more for the color (blue hawaiian). I'd consider this bag in another color

I'm a medium size bag girl. Nothing huge.

I've been scrolling thru tons of pics and posts here for about a week checking out bags and comments. You ladies have great taste! So, I need to finally make a decision and would appreciate any pros and cons.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the Tano sub-forum!!!!

Have you considered a Sex Bomb? It's really the most 'structured' Tano I can think of. A Minilisa may work very well for you too....limited slouching there.

By and large Tano's are nice, roomy, delicious, puddly handbags!! You will find yourself unable to stop once you buy and fall in love with one!

And I do agree...the French Nanny is divine, isn't it?

Let us know what you decide!

Don't be embarassed!!! Join in the fun! Part of the fun of tPF is the posting!!!

All good choices! I've have/had three out of the four you listed.

The Boogie is a great bag. The strap is stiff at first. You do have to break it in though. Some straps are stiffer than others too (at least I've noticed with mine). It was my favorite Tano, but the French Nanny and the Women Unite has bumped it down to third place!

The Biker Babe is a great slouchy bag!! The straps are soft and much thinner than the Boogie. I just didn't find them comfortable, and I'm really bummed by that because I really, really, really wanted to fall in love with this bag!! Others find the straps comfortable, so it's more of a personal preference.

The French Nanny is a great bag! I love this bag too! The strap is soft and very comfortable. It's a perfect sized bag. . . not too big. . .not too small. I will probably get another French Nanny this fall. I might get the Violet one if it comes with black strapping.

Is there a particular color you like?

Must Have Bag is a great place to get Tanos. They give a 10% tPF discount, plus an excellent return policy if the bag doesn't work out for you. Their customer service is A+++!

Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

Thanks, Voodoo!

I'll look again at Sex Bomb, but I'm not sure about the outside pockets (if that's the one I'm thinking of). The Minilisa looks pretty too.

I like the strap detail on the French Nanny a lot. I think it was mostly the color that I wasn't in love with. I'm trying to break out of the conservative Dooney shell. I love mine, but I want something more funky these days. I've got to have a balance between cool and function. I think I'll take another look at Minilisa and also Dancing With A Star.......

Thanks again!!

Hi baghag411 - God I feel like I already know you girls since I've been reading here for a while!

Color wise, I'm leaning toward orange. The orange peel with the brown trim is gorgeous. It looks awesome on every bag I've seen.

Alex and Ashley at MHB are probably already sick of me! I've been emailing them with questions. They are amazingly patient and helpful. When I finally decide, there's no doubt I'll be buying from MHB. Even if they didn't give a discount, the service I've already gotten is enough to give them my business.

I may have to re-think the French Nanny in Orange Peel.......

showdog, welcome to the Tano Sub-forum. You will find all the girls here to be helpful and full of information on Tano's. It's funny you are a Dooney Girl and I am pretty much a Coach/Tano Girl branching in to Dooney. I think the Dooney Grass Green for this year to be the IT color this season. I am contemplating my very first Dooney Grass Green Luna Bag. Here it is in gorgeous pink. I have never really liked Dooney bags but this bag has piqued my interest to say the least. :woohoo:

Dooney is finally getting some more contempory styles lately and that Luna bag is beautiful. Their grass green color is very pretty and I agree that it is the "IT" color. I love Dooney leather, especially their Shiny leather. Very soft and smells heavenly. I can smell my bag in my desk drawer all day long . If you decide on the Luna bag, I hope you love it. The quality of my Dooneys is incredible. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

I have to chime in here for the Inspired Aesthetic. It's a gorgeous bag and not huge, but can carry a lot. I'm not a "big bag" girl, and it's perfect for me. Mine is caramel and it's beautiful. You might look at the Carte Blanche also. It's pretty structured and smaller.

Hey showdog! Welcome to Tano and TPF! Glad you jumped right in, that's awesome of you!

I am familiar with Dooney (own a few pieces!) and can see your dilemma of going from structured dooney to totally puddly tano! My suggestion would be the Dancing with a Star! It looks fairly structured because of the inner pockets and also the outside straps. Furthermore, the carte blanche style (new name and leather for this coming season: http://www.tanobag.com/detail.cfm?season=B&syear=2009&group=TR&style=4298&IMMED=&desc=SLY DEVIL&makebuy=B) is fairly structured because it also has inner organization!

I would also recommend looking at: http://www.musthavebag.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=385&category=0 and http://www.musthavebag.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=390&category=0 because the construction of the bag provides a bit more structure!

Lastly, these bags are from previous seasons and this season and offer more structure than bags such as the boogie or minilisa (I think my minilisas are really slouchy/puddly!):

Have fun looking and check out the tano online stores thread for more stores/bags/info!

Hi showdog!!!! (From the Q-boards?)

I am not used to non-structured bags, so I invested in a purse to go organizer...which has helped me go from the bottomless pit to a more organized bag...

I only have 2 tanos, but love both...and the orange peel color looks devine! I am lusting after a french nanny...so I think you can't go wrong...

And I agree on the MHB recommendation...fabulous customer service, and a dust bag!

Let us know what you decide on!!!

Hey Odebdo my friend from the Q!

Thanks to you, here I am at the Purse Forum. Just like you said, everyone has been so nice and helpful. Thank you all for the warm welcome and great recommendations!

I've looked at That's Our Bag and some other sites, but I really feel like I owe it to MHB to buy my first bag from them. They've been so very nice.

As weird as I am, I may just order the French Nanny again but in Orange Peel this time. I was totally captivated by the leather on that bag. The strap detail is exactly my style. I think I just chose the wrong color. So, I'll sleep on it and try to finally make a decision.

And Odebdo, those dogs of yours are beyond cute!! From one dog lover to another!!

Thanks Showdog!!! I love them!

Well, the nice thing is MHB has a fabulous return policy...so no worries...and color can totally make the bag...

Glad me going on and on about my boogie made you want your own Tano!

Check out Musthavebag's flickr site to see the bags that
are coming out this summer. You might like the bucket
bag called Immeasurable which is coming out in the summer.
For color Tano Bags cannot be beat. They have the most
amazing colors. They also have a downtown vibe as well.
The first Bag is a new bucket bag called Immeasurable.
Second bag is a shoulder bag called Forward Thinking.
Third Bag is Femme Fatale in cobalt blue. The teal one
is Flashy Flip through (this one will not be carried by musthavebag.com
but I just added it for color reference).

My personal favorite for the Summer/Fall season is the Ramped Up.
Shown last in white. Good luck deciding as there are so many to choose from. My advice to you is find a color you love and then find a style which works for your lifestyle.
