Should I get a strap for my first Saddle bag?

Would you or some other kind soul who has the adjustable shoulder strap be able to tell me how long the strap is when it's adjusted to its absolute shortest setting? the website only gives the total length. TIA!
I tried to measure my adjustable strap at its shortest it’s about 32 inches. If you remove the lobster clasps it could go as short as about 28. Hope it helps!

A quick update on my strap saga. I'll be returning the strap that I ordered. I had a chance to try it on in store with a black saddle bag and I can't get over the short strap sticking out. Maybe I'd use it occasionally, but I don't see myself using it often enough to justify $1300 price tag (tax including). Attaching photos for anyone who's considering a strap and curious how it looks with the bag IRL.

Hi ladies! I might not be in the right thread, but how do you store your saddle bag? I've seen people buy a hanger, but I usually store my bags in their dustbag so not sure what to do for the saddle bag. TIA!

@Maria333 I too bought a Saddle Bag recently and decided against the longer strap for the very same reason:. I cannot get over the shorter strap situation. Tbh, it's a design flaw (one which Dior may rectify in the future). The shorter strap should be completely removable imho... It looks bad when combined with the longer strap AND it's inconvenient getting in/out of the bag when both are in use.

Not sure why the Maria Grazia Chiuri Saddle didn't use a pivoting "horse bit" between the C and D hardware at the base of the strap. This would allow the short strap to drop to the side when the larger strap is attached, and would be in line with the equestrian theme. It would also allow the larger strap to attach to the D instead of the C (the D naturally forms a ring to attach a strap).

I still love the design, and it is true to the original which came out at a time when it was chic to carry a bag right under the arms.

The strap looks great dangling from the bag, though.

I actually didn't even try to get in and out of the bag with the strap on, good to know that it's inconvenient! Convenience is a major consideration for me.
@averagejoe suggestion above would work perfectly, it's a pity the bag is not created this way... But I do really like how it looks as a shoulder bag, so will be enjoying it as is when I don't need to be hands-free.

It's not that bad with the guitar strap IMO. That's the main way I've been carrying mine. I thought having the short strap would bug me, but it doesn't. I'm already used to it and I love having the option of 2 straps (short "grab & go" and high crossbody/shoulder). Like @averagejoe mentioned above, it's not ideal/perfect, but it works okay for me.

My Dior SA recommended to store bags in dust bags on shelves or some open air storage unit and OUTSIDE of bag boxes. He said it is not recommended to store bags in their boxes due to humidity that can accumulate inside the box (even if you don't live in humid climate). Hope this helps

Yes, thanks for all the info. It's helpful :) For the saddle bag specifically, do you know if I should store it flat on my shelf or should I hang it ?

He didn't specify, I would assume it's better not to store it hanging since it'd create constant tension on the handle. I store mine "sitting" on the shelve, not flat, it just stands in between other bags, I'm sure flat is good too.

Hi ladies!

Slightly related question. I'm thinking of buying a saddle (either black or the oblique one). The thing that's stopping me is the expensive extra strap. My arms are fat so the extra strap is a bit of a necessity. Have any of you tried mixing straps from a different brand with the bag? I have a couple of lv straps but in my head that's a bit too much.

I tried clipping on Lady Dior strap and it didn't look great, but I can imagine you can find other straps that suit the bag better. I recently saw a Celine strap that I thought had a very similar aesthetics to Dior and is a fraction of a cost ($395!).
Another option is to look for straps on the pre-loved market, there are plenty.

Yes, the short strap with the guitar strap looks weird to me. I mentioned it to my SA when I bought the saddle bag and he mentioned that some people stick it inside and showed me. It’s not perfect but ok, looks much better. I ended up getting the guitar strap and wear it that way. Attach is a pic of how it looks with the short strap tucked inside…

Thanks for the tip!

I went to the store earlier, was keen on getting the saddle in black. Then the kindly SA showed me the oblique. This might be my first dior purchase so now I'm confused. I left empty-handed for now.
