Should I get a strap for my first Saddle bag?

Thank you for the recommendation! Have you experienced that the original short strap is uncomfortable to wear? I would want to wear my Saddle often, but I also have many other bags that work crossbody. So if it's for style, I can always use those for a specific outfit that calls for crossbody... However, if the original short strap is uncomfortable to wear, I'd definitely get a strap.
If you already have the strap, could you please recommend which one is better to get - adjustable or thicker non-adjustable?

I wouldn’t say its uncomfortable but I find it abit bulky (maybe it’s my frame?) so if I took it to go shopping or if I’m taking it out for the entire day it does fall off my shoulder. I only wear my strap if iam going somewhere that I would need to get my wallet/mask/phone out often or if I’m moving around and need to be more hands free as I do find it 10000% easier.

In saying that though I think the Saddle by itself is very classy and I probably don’t use the strap as much as I would like to (considering the strap isn’t cheap) because I have other crossbody bags that serve the “everyday” need so definitely have a look at what you have already.

I have the thinner adjustable strap because I think the thicker one is tooo thick/ too busy for my taste and I’ve read that people do find the thicker one short when worn crossbody.

Hi everyone! I'm getting my first Saddle bag in regular size in Latte. I'm debating whether I should get a strap for it. Initially I wasn't planning to purchase it right away, I was thinking I'll wear it as is for a few weeks/ months to understand whether I need the strap. But I know price increase is coming and I'm not sure if I should just get it now as $1200 is already a lot for a strap.
I would appreciate any advice and opinions on the looks, functionality, comfort etc. Thanks!!

Well this won't be very popular BUT I would say yes get the strap in the prelove market. Yes, the strap is nice, but $1200 plus tax for a cloth strap is steep as there is no strong resale value on a used strap. Not to say that you are purchasing to sell. Fashionphile has them often for sale. You can watch them as I believe every 30 days the price drops anywhere from 5% to 10%. But, if a new strap is what you want, and it makes your heart sing, go for it. However if you are going to get new, do it NOW before the price crease. My SA told me prices will go up on Jan 17 in the USA. Don't wait til the last min either. Who is to say it doesn't get moved up. Buy now and think about it later. You have 30 days to return or exchange. Im not sure how an exchange will work if you try to exchange after the price goes up. Ask that question.

Thank you both for detailed responses!! It's always so helpful to hear from someone who actually used the bag.
I really thought about that "makes your heart sing" rule and the strap doesn't do it for me. While I love how stylish it looks on others, I cannot imagine it on myself, I really only wear very simple outfits in terms of volume and "bulkiness", like I can't do many layers etc. When I imagine wearing Saddle with the strap and then there's that other short strap, it just feels like too much for me.
I also really liked @Debbie65 idea to look at pre-loved market, there are indeed tons of heavily discounted straps. I never bought pre-loved, but I'd totally try that with something smaller like a strap vs. a bag when I'd be too scared to get a fake

I bought the kim Jones mens saddle with integrated, ergonomic, and adjustable cross body strap because I wanted a more streamlined saddle (no CD hardware was a plus for me) and i dislike gold HW

You will 100% regret not getting a strap and as someone who has both the adjustable strap and non-adjustable the adjustable is more convenient for say a day of shopping, while the non-adjustable works for just a brief outing. I only carry it without a strap when I’m going out to dinner or to make it less casual. They also go with my other Dior bags giving them a completely different look.

Thanks for sharing! You're making me reconsider my decision, I was already confident I'm not getting it now... But now I'm thinking maybe I should order today anyways, I think tomorrow is the price increase :facepalm:

You can always buy and think about it afterwards. You can return it within 30 days as long as it's in the same condition as when you purchased it. Either tomorrow the price goes up or tomorrow is the last day of the current pricing, with it officially going up on the 18th.

Is it the height of the bag on you w the non-adjustable strap that is inconvenient for a day out, comfort, or another reason? Curious since I just got a saddle with the non-adjustable strap. TIA!

Sure! It all depends, if im wearing a coat and want to wear cross body, the non-adjustable won’t do. If it’s summer and shopping in the city, and I want the bag close, it’s perfect. If im site seeing/shopping and want more comfort at a longer length, the adjustable works. Im 5’4, average build and they both work for different reasons.

Ah, got it. Thanks for the additional info! Luckily we don't need coats much out here in southern California, so I think the non-adjustable strap will be okay for me (for now anyways. LOL.). I love how it sits as a higher crossbody. It feels so secure!

Would you or some other kind soul who has the adjustable shoulder strap be able to tell me how long the strap is when it's adjusted to its absolute shortest setting? the website only gives the total length. TIA!
