@Designer_Dreams In 2017, a wonderful person put this list together:

There are many excellent bags in the Kelly-style at varying price points. Life is short. Sometimes it is best to move on.
That's a great suggestion, but I already have several Kelly "look a likes" in my collection. I have 4 Coco Handles, My Lady Dior is another top handle I think I have off the top of my head, Saint Laurent, some Gucci's that fit the bill, as well as Fendi and Prada, etc. Basically the two style bags I typically find myself buying are either a top handle with detachable long shoulder strap (hence why I'm only in love with the Kelly) or a chain flap bag (like the Chanel classic flap or Dior Montaigne 30, which I got recently for my bday)...

Since I don't have any H in my collection and way too many Chanel's to last several lifetimes, I wanted to venture out and explore a different designer. As to why I originally asked about H's SA relationships... but unfortunately, it just does not seem to be feasible at the moment to try to build a relationship when I have no boutique near me:crybaby:

Sad this post took a different turn with a few comments, but all is well and I still appreciate all the advice / suggestions, guys!!

And as @Zeremine pointed out, I suppose it does matter what circles you associate with. I don't socialize with mistress's or husbands that cheat. As a matter of fact, my soon to be fiancé would never dream of cheating and that's not why he said he'd buy me the bag [if I could find one]. Rather, he wants to buy it b/c he loves to see me happy and is a wonderful, loving and caring man. Plus this is sort of an overdue graduating law school present / passing the Bar exam / I would also count it as a holiday present if I got one around that time of year. Personally, the bag would have a wonderful meaning for me. But hey, everyone is entitled to their different opinions on the bag and the brand, and that's completely OK.

Agreed, some very sexist and outdated thinking in that comment, which is unfortunate.

Oh, I’m not disputing that not everyone wants a B/K/C. I’m partial to the Kelly and wouldn’t want to be caught dead with the other two. The idea of these bags being hush gifts for the wife or side piece is, however, something that I haven’t encountered (being a single female physician who just rewarded herself with her third Kelly for the big 3-0 and all), although I can see how in some circles that might be the case. These are not circles that I find savory or would want to associate with, which is of course my own opinion.

Buying a bag for “status” rather than aesthetic or functional appeal is... not my MO, but to each their own.

Most of us that share their thoughts are not involved in the circle that Gabs discussed fortunately
& in a world where women strive harder for their achievements, a very sexist comment & reflective
of the character of the poster who made the comment.
Enjoy your Kelly.. I'm a Kelly gal & right behind you about other H style bags.
Designer_Dreams have fun on your search....

Not bashing the bags, the design doesn't work for me and tbh for that price tag I can get something that does work for me, but not everybody sees them as the holy grail of bags, for quite a few reasons. I can appreciate an artwork without wanting to have it, but if you are paying that much for a bag, it has to be a bag you really love and that works for you, and if you don't like a certain bag others think you "MUST" love, you are entitled to love other items from the same designer without being slated.

Look, not everybody who likes H wants to purchase Kellys or Birkins, as I said, personally I find them awful and when dog ate it, I cried due to resale value but not because I liked the bag, H has a lot to offer, the bags mehhhh.

I doubt I am the only one who doesn't want to have Birkin or Kelly, or even 2 of them per year

You used the word "awful" but you don't consider that bashing:confused1:

OP, go for it:biggrin:

Apparently I need to subscribe to your taste, sorry dear, not really that much into a statement bag, but you go for it. As I said, if somebody likes it, great, but I suspect a lot of people just want it for what they perceive gives them the cache, which differs from place to place. But I will let you know if I need your approval for what I like, bu please don't hold your breath. H has a lot of nice things to offer, personally the statement bags are not for me, again, not my taste, nor do I need to boost my "image" with them. Sorry if you do have a problem that not everybody worships at the same shrine as you do. I have a good relationship with my Hermes SA and regularly get offered bags and turn them down as they are simply not for me. Some of us do work, and a Birkin is very heavy, why pay premium for a Macbook Air to add the weight with a bag where the design doesn't even work for me? I buy what I want, sorry if you disagree, I try to be phased, when I get the time, maybe in a century or so

I didn't realize I could get a Birkin or Kelly merely by being a side piece. Here I was working hard on my career all of these years!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I certainly wasn't saying you could, but that here it seems common to give them as that, not knowing how you look or what you could offer the gents who give the bags, I couldn't comment, but if your career is devoted to buying a B or K, I would dare to venture a guess that the priorities might be a bit off. I actually devoted my career to having a career and being financially secure, bags were more disposable income, and personally, I never fancied being a side piece, but then again, we are all different

You absolutely do not have to subscribe to my taste, dear, but you need to be respectful of those who appreciate
Hermes bags for whatever reason they deem fit for themselves & for many it has nothing to do with "image"
but rather for the quality, the design, the style & workmanship of a variety of Hermes bags
be it the Birkin, Kelly, Constance or many of the other styles.
Many of us have quite outstanding relationships with our SA's who take pride & joy in making sure
that we find what suits us & are offered what they know will work in our lifestyle.
And for those who work hard in their various careers, my hat is off to them for recognizing what H has to
offer & making the decision to have a top notch item be it a bag or a scarf:biggrin:
Brava & Bravo to you gals & gents & welcome to the special & unique world of Hermes
