If you like it, it is a good price. I would ask for more photos and have it authenticated in the Hermes Authentication thread (read the rules for how to post on the first page). Box is a classic and this looks in great condition from the photo. Note, however, that HAC is taller than Birkin (I love this about the HAC), BUT the handle is shorter that the Birkin, not by much, but depending on whether you want to wear it on your arm it may not fit over a coat. The HAC is actually the bag on which the Birkin was based and it goes back to the very early days of Hermes in the 1800s, so it has a lot of history.

It’s beautiful but although box calf lasts pretty much forever given the correct care, you really can’t use it in the rain as it may well blister. (Not that Hermes will ever say you can carry any of their leathers in the rain, but many are fine within reason)

I hear that you are from Austria, so another great source you might want to consider is vite-envogue.de . This shop is based in Germany, so you will not have any customs problems. I am from Germany and have bought quite some articles from them (not Hermes, but LV, Chloe, MiuMiu, Balenciaga) and everything was always authentic and in good condition. They also have a great return policy in case you do not like the bag. And a quick look told me that there are a few B35s that are not too far out of your price range (especially if you have a separate fund for VAT for a foreign purchase)... good luck!

I highly recommend CS, you won't have to pay taxes and fees and the price would be in your budget as you already set those 1.500 USD for duties away. And it's a classic.

edit: ok it's a shooting star Birkin. Not sure how you feel about those. I personally like them a lot, but I really have no clue how H reacts once you bring a shootingstar bag to them for treatment / repair. Something you should consider.

Wow, learned something new: I did not know about the shooting star bags. Just searched through the forum and someone confirmed that these cannot be service, which is a small Problem in case it would need repairing.

Hi Julie32, Thank you..... I am aware of that site and am looking daily. I think they belong with buddy & selly since they have many of the same bags for sale. I am still a bit short on the amount I have saved for a Birkin, but I am getting there. I am really considering a bag from a seller in Japan, of course with prior online verification. Eve with the extremely high import taxes it seems more affordable. The problem is that they won't send additional pictures, which my paid authentication service always asks for. A vicious circle... :annoyed:

Shooting star bags can be serviced. I had a shooting star Kelly, no issues at all. But if some have been refused maybe best to be careful?
