I don't know if there is anyone else out there that would like to wear red lipstick, but feel clownish. I know I do.

I have been searching high and low, for a (drugstore priced) sheer red - I've found it!!!

N.Y.C. Sheer Red - It really is!!

I forget the price but it was cheap, found it at Long's drugs.

It's a lipstick, not a gloss, not sticky.

If anyone buys it from Long's (now CVS) Drugs and doesn't like it. as long as you keep the package with the barcode, you can return it, even used.

But, hmmm, I think I bought it before it changed to CVS, so make sure the policy is the same.

Anyway, thought I'd share;)

Thanks so much! I will have to try this because I love sheer red... and a huge bonus that it's a cheap price! And yes, you can return opened makeup to CVS if you don't like it (don't worry, they won't resell it).

Can you post a pic of the product and maybe a swatch? I'd love to see it.

-I'm so sorry, I don't know how the heck to do that, plus, it just looks like red in the tube (really, you can't tell looking at the tube):s

Maybe someone else can do this. Have mercy on an old lady who can barely use her Mac:crybaby:

I bought this on a whim when I needed a red lipstick for my Halloween costume. I was surprised that I actually liked the color. Most reds usually turn pink on me. Here's a pic of me and my attempt to be Kat Von D for Halloween costume last year.:D

Thank you so much for posting that! See, it does look sheer. It must flatter all skin tones, then, as I have fair skin, blue eyes and cannot wear peach, apricot, or any cosmetic that has brown or orange undertones. I need to stay towards the blue.

So yur pic is very helpful for us:smile1:

FYI... I did purchase this (only 99 cents!) It's a lovely red, but definitely not my definition of sheer. I've used sheer lipsticks before and expected something a lot more see-through (like Clinique's almost lipstick, or Dior's sheer lipsticks). However, this was only very, very slightly sheer, and if you layer it looks like regular lipstick or more like a stain. Normal sheer lipsticks can be layered and still appear sheer, and even with only one thin layer, this didn't seem sheer on me with the lightest application I could manage, lol. It's still a nice color, though, for those interested.

Same here. It is nice to mix in w/ a gloss though and kind of get the look of a sheer if put on lightly. It is certainly cheaper than the Juicy Apple Clinique gloss- which is sheer- mine was only.92 @ Target.

Ah well, one woman's sheer is another woman's not; at least you can return it.:smile1:

The only prrblem with Clinique, is they only make the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
I found the Buttercream Lipstick fairly sheer.

I just don't like glosses, so I am constantly searching for sheer, slightly shiny lipsticks...

Stila does a nice on too - it was called Georgia but I think the name has changed to Pamela? It's a lovely sheer red - usually, I just dab some on then smooth it around with some lipbalm. Perfect.

I haven't forgotten, still on the hunt for sheer red.

Have bought some products from "Lipstick Queen"

Some very cool stuff on that site!

There is a gloss that is in a pencil that you sharpen! Not sticky goopy. There is a reddish one called Thriller.

Also. I bought a lipstick called 'Medieval' it is based on the fact that in those times, women did not wear heavy makeup else be mistaken for whores.

So this one is a sheer red. Kind of lke if you bit or pinched your lips to get color.

Anyway, these are my latest finds.

I still can't get over gloss in a pencil stick!

(not affiliated, just very intrigued with the products on this site)

Don't have it handy, but URL is probably lipstickqueen.com. Google if I am wrong.

Happy hunting!

P.S. They aren't drugstore prices, but so far, the only sheers I have found and liked are Clinique and this brand, so not ultra cheap. But I still like that drugstore NYC I found...
