Thanks for the advice, ladies! I don't know how to tag everyone without quoting. I just called my local boutique and they said they'd call around to see if any other stores may have extra hang tags, but with it being a 1941 bag, they're not sure if there really would be much out there. I appreciate that they're going to make the effort. The sales associate on the phone empathized with me because she's also lost a hang tag off of one of her own bags! The next time I take out my black Rogue, I'm going to make sure it reinforce the clasp on it!
This happened to me the very first time i used my tea rose saddle bag - I was so disappointed that it fell off literally within the first 10 minutes of bag usage! I had purchased it at Saks, but took it into a Coach store to see if they had a replacement. They did not question where I purchased it. They did not have the 1941 tag, but they did provide me with a generic tag that they offered to emboss with my initials. It's not the same, but at least the bag doesn't look quite as "naked" without it, as you said. The embossing at least adds a little bit of a personal touch to it.
Check inside the bag, it may have flipped over into the bag before it fell off - that's happened to me! You can call Coach Customer Service and ask for a replacement. They usually send free generic metal hangtags that match the metal, rather than the unique hangtag for the Rogue - but you might get lucky. You can also ask an SA at your Coach store. They may not have extra 1941 tags but they will try to assist you. You can also notify lost and found at the facility where you noticed the loss, someone might find it.
It doesn't matter if you have a receipt. I like to rehab vintage Coach bags and I have asked for hangtags for bags that I bought at garage sales, thrift stores, and online, and no one ever questioned where I got the bag or asked for a receipt. After all, it could have been a gift! But sometimes it takes weeks or months for the replacement tag to arrive - that's why you might want to go to the Coach store and ask an SA for assistance.
I have lost hangtags and it really bums me out. Now when I am putting a bag back in it's dustbag for storage, I usually give the latch on the ball chain a couple of gentle squeezes with a needle-nosed pliers to try and make sure that it is secure. I don't know if it helps but it makes me feel better.
I hope that you find it!
