My beloved brown today!
I’ve really enjoyed reading this thread, as I didn’t get brown at all until recently, when I fell in love with the color mahogany. Here’s a picture of my very new and small brown family, a The Row Pail bag, a The Row Two for One 12, and a pair of block-heel Tod’s sandals to go with both bags. The lighting wasn’t great and the picture doesn’t do any of these pieces justice, but I’m excited to take many of my spring and summer looks up a notch with them. I think they will add an edge an an earthy vibe to dresses and outfits I’ve been wearing for years that would otherwise look a bit frilly/prissy/dated. That’s the hope anyway - mahogany in summer will at least be something different from the beige and nude that I see everywhere (and don’t care for at all).

Not a reveal but an ode to this much maligned colour.
In the neutral world, black is always with us, navy seems to have shaken off its conservative rep, grey is thought of as an edgy neutral rather than the terrible blah image it had and tan has always escaped criticism. I'm not talking about beige, caramel, tan or even cognac, those colours I like too but they have a casual edge that has helped them stay hip. Taupe for a long time seemed to have taken over as the alternative to black. BV and Gucci used to have brown as their signature colour but o longer, only in the LV world is brown a staple. Let's give a welcoming warm hand to the reintroduction of real dark brown bags into our wardrobe.
I have always liked brown, be it cool ebony or warm chocolate. This year I'm feeling brown more than ever. Not many women's bags are made in brown anymore but I'm seeing 'sold out' signs under the browns in NAP and other sites this season, must be a thing in the air.
Are you a fan too? Please show me your best brown bags.
First I'll show you some of mine:

I keep finding more brown bags!
This is one I should hardly be able to miss. I bought it as a gift for DH but stole it back, it's a huge, gorgeous brown ostrich holdall with purple suede lining (happily not too heavy) that I love to use as a weekender. Ithis bag.
Here are my browns, since the "shopping your own" thread just did Brown week. To me these are staples, I carry them anytime I am not wearing black.
Hermès Birkin, Garden Party, Kelly 25, two Kelly 28s (one is 67 years old!) and an Evelyne TPM.

My handmade, non-branded saddle leather bagI’m fond of all shades of brown bags, but deep chocolate is my favourite, so this went unresisted

Thank you PTI can't believe Mulberry discontinued Oak, OMG that's ridiculous, showing how fabulous both these Darwins are here, Etoupe Evie, another smart-casual classic. Great aesthetic Pessie
Loving your saddle bag too, stunning bag, wow Bringing back feelings of guilt for selling my vintage non-brand handmade saddle bag to make way for my new Lady Web suede Gucci a couple of years ago, but can't keep them all.
Thank you PTThe Evelyne arrived on a very dull, dark day, so the colour isn’t showing at all well in the photo. It’s actually gold with gold hw. I am on the lookout for an etoupe at some point, as I don’t have anything in that colour and I think it would be one I’d wear a lot.
I absolutely adore your plume in that gorgeous box leatherand I’m hovering over a preloved plume at the mo, but it’s a 28 and I’m thinking I might find it too dainty for me? How are you finding it vs your 32?
That helps thank you PTA sorry, Gold with ghw (so lucky to find ghw on any Evie).
Some people have no problem with the 28 at, that are actually more pricey than the 32, so if you want/need a 32 it's a good time to buy (preloved). I prefer my 32 for work or going out all day coz when I'm out whether in London (or nearby) or in Scotland I am OUT all day. The 28 looks a bit better for meetings and consulting etc.
As you can see, I can carry a little bottle of water (and it stays put nicely - I don't usually put water in my bag actually) but if I carry something like that, other things have to be left out. E.g. I can fit a beanie hat and a scarf into my 32 with my usual cosmetic bag etc no problem but both would be too much for the 28, so it would scarf or hat. I hate I can't get my hat in there ha ha but that's not most people's problem. The 28 is still a really big bag for most, it's deep top to bottom and side to side. 32 is still my default size but them I'm a 35/37 Bolide gal too.
Thanks!Liking the brown with the blue trim![]()
