Faulty earring post

I'm glad this is worked out and you gave them both! Who knows what happenec to actually break the post.
On your local SA, maybe work with a different SA. Not all SAs are the same, and I've met some average SAs who just want the sale but don't want to help with after care.

I'm so happy for you they will be fixed! P.S. I put my Alhambras on the lower hole too so they can better on my ear.

No idea what happened because I baby my jewellery completely and everyone is always amazed how well it is kept. I don't want to sound nasty but I do strongly suspect some manufacturing defect.
On my SA: I have already changed the SA before and moved to this guy from the previous guy who was even worse! He really only paid attention to me when I was showing him my wallet and everything outside a purchasing transaction was a real pain. I remember I described my experience of an atrocious service when one of the SAs was jerkingly pulling out my long necklace out of the plastic and this is where I was thinking whether I even bother going back to VCA again?..

So I had a VCA representative coming to my staycation place and she thought that she would fix the earrings on the spot but apparently what happened was a real broken post: the piece of the post which is inserted into the earring was inside so it would be impossible to fix that at all.
She suggested to put it into a higher hole but it would have looked really weird on my ears, so I just passed both earrings to her to repair at the service centre. I still have no idea how this happened as the earrings were sitting in the VCA box and then in the pouch all the way and I am still at the opinion that a golden post should not just break just like that.
@BigAkoya thanks for the suggestion! I have earrings with a similar closing mechanism and this is the exact distance which is comfortable for me otherwise the earrings don't sit straight on me and slant forwards. No complaints on that part at all.
What was good as well is that VCA rep also brought me a bottle of champagne which was a nice gesture. I am still surprised by the local SA's attitude though: you basically have to continuously fight with them to get a decent service! it is like they are trying to get rid of you at all costs
The exact same thing happened to a pair of my earrings after only wearing them once. I thought that the post had come unscrewed, but actually the base of the post had broken off inside the hole. Of course they were repaired for free, but it was surprising.

Is purchasing online an option for where you live? At this point, if you are unhappy with the VCA customer service, perhaps buying your pieces online might be better.

Really disappointing to hear you’ve had to change SAs once before. Alternatively, maybe gravitate towards a female SA if you still want to shop in person.

Hopefully someone can recommend their SA to you?

@Ylesiya you must be talking about the boutique in the Ion Singapore. It is the worst in the world. Greedy, lazy, useless SAs. Don't think for a second they didn't know they were selling you a defective item (re your thread about 2 motif Magic Earrings). They tried to sell me a defective BA item and when I pointed it to them they just sold it infront of my very eyes to another unsuspecting customer. The amount of the defective items I have seen there is quite worrying too. The SA are hopeless. They don't know much about Van Cleef and are not even interested to know. Just to push the sale on you.
I'm not surprised you jump from one SA to another. They are just all below par. Change the boutique whatsoever.

OMG! I felt the same there at my first and only visit. Thought they were just having a bad day. Who would have thought it is the rule rather than the exception. I wanted to buy the 3 motif Magic earrings but they managed to turn me off the purchase… for good it seems:smile:

I am so sorry to hear of your post and your service issues. I‘m also horrified to hear of such terrible service in Singapore. (My aunt has an apartment there for her pre covid medical care, but I have never been). I have really nice VCA service at home in the US, and I really clicked with a VCA in Milan, where I am visiting. For the price of their merchandise, I would think that the VCA SA would address the post issue graciously and immediately or at least inform the consumer of the removable posts before purchase. I only have a six motif necklace, but I have been considering the buton d’or dangling diamond earrings. Honestly, my local jeweler for unbranded gems provides better service than the VCA service you have experienced.

Yes, you are right, this is ION Singapore.
Unfortunately not much other choice here (or maybe I am just not very aware): there is one store in Takashimaya and another one at MBS. Not sure whether this is totally Singapore thing or only ION but I haven't been impressed by the service at VCA here in general :-(

Looking at other countries where I see lovely ladies receiving their purchases with extra gifts, wrapping, books etc etc, it makes me feel like "what is going on?" Very recently they could not even give a damn cleaning cloth together with the purchase, leave alone any special treatment of the customer. This is why I changed my previous SA. I was hoping the new one would be better and he was kinda nice but right now when it came to a real problem, I was amazed by this reaction and a total lack of support.
This Monday I came in again to drop off another item for routine servicing and all the SAs just disappeared behind the door although the store was totally empty.
I am even thinking of writing to the HQ about what is going on over here.

I'm very sad to hear all of this. No customer should be treated like this especially at a place pretending to be high end. The CS there has hit rock bottom. People don't get even a basic service let alone luxury shopping experience. Very disappointing.

Wow that is shocking to hear
I had a repair done by vca & it was not done correctly. They were very apologetic & sent it to be repaired again but tbh i was surprised that it was sent with such an obvious bad repair.
However i was treated really nicely & given small gifts each time so that does make the interactions a lot more pleasant.

So I recently purchased hammered vintage alhambra earrings and was very happy with the purchase..I was told supply is short and am lucky to have them.. I visited another VCA boutique and the SA there looked up my record and asked if I liked my earrings post repair when I never got them repaired! He was then saying how he was mistaken but I have such a lingering feeling that maybe the earrings were repaired and sold to me.. anyone have this type of experience ? I mean the earrings are fine btw…
