My dear ladies, I'm just so furious right now so I think I need some advice and your kind support at the moment.
I was about to wear my brand new earrings for the first time since I bought them (covid, work from home and family - I just didn't have any opportunity to wear them out!). So I'm here at the dinner finally having a little staycation with my DH, relaxing and about to put them on with my lovely necklace and I find that the post is missing on one side. I swear to all of you and to God that I have never ever wore them out before and they have been just sitting quietly in my pouch.
I'm writing to my SA immediately saying I've got a serious problem here and he's starting to tell me a totally BS story that they can order a new post but he doesn't know how much it will cost blah blah blah and that the post is not soldered etc... But it's not supposed to happen just like that!!! This is a brand new piece!
I wrote very clearly that I want it to be fixed and I don't want to pay even a single cent for it as that's a brand new pair which has never been taken out!
I'm literally writing this text right now at the restaurant being completely desperate. Please advice what to do and what you would have done in this situation. Attaching some pics for you to see this. I didn't find the post in the pouch, I'll dig up my bag later in case it's there for whatever reason... I'm just feeling so cheated and about to cry.

P. S. Funnily we've been discussing counterfeits in another thread and gosh, sometimes I think counterfeits are better made than authentic stuff. First they offered me this pair with a huge ugly stain on the dangling motif and now this. Unbelievable.

My one earring the post falls out easily. I keep meaning to get it soldered on. My SA gave me a bunch of extra posts when I bought my first pair of earrings. I thought they kept extra in the store but maybe this was pre covid. I personally would insist that the SA sends you a new post given your earrings are new or if you are near the store you pick it up. Annoying you can’t wear them but please do not stress over earrings!!

I would take a deep breath and check the pouch very carefully for the post. It might be in the other earring or in the seam. The posts are made to be removable.

if you cannot find it, then I would work with your sales person towards a solution. Unfortunately, it sounds like you have had them for a while and it is hard to say that it wasn’t there to begin with. However, I agree they should not come out that easily and that is on VCA.

At the end of the day this is easily fixed. Not worth your peace over. I hope you were able to enjoy your meal.

I agree with @lynne_ross. I think as you are a regular client, so you can just get a new post. Don't stress over it; things happen. It's also not the SA's fault so I would not take it out on him.

My guess is perhaps the posts fell off when you were taking them out of the pouch? So check that room too? Either way, I would just ask for a new post.

I'm not sure if these are your first Alhambra's, but you might also take this time to see if they need adjusting (e.g. loosened, thinner posts, longer posts, etc). I had to swap my post out for thinner ones and also loosen the clips as they were too tight on my ears.

Congrats on your new earrings! They will soon be perfect again.

A permanent solution to this is to bring them in for new posts AND get them soldered. The last thing you want to happen is to lose an earring outside and never find it. At least this happened at home. I just got mine soldered and swapped the posts for the longer and thinner ones...now they feel more secure.

Sorry this happened to you. I have never had luck with the posts and almost lost an earring while walking around the city-- the earring fell in my boot! My SA exchanged them but it happened again in my home. After that, I only wear my omega earrings as clips and have found a brilliant solution with rubber covers from Amazon. They're very secure now and they actually sit on my ear where I want them.

Thanks a lot everyone!
It's not even the missing post which made me so upset but the SA's attitude: instead of promising to fix this, he started telling me the story about "just wear it like an earclip for now". Really? What if it falls down?? It's a relatively heavy earring and I actually tried it on without the post and it is very easy for it to slide down. With delicate mop stones on it.
Then he said to use those silicone pads and this got me completely mad as I just want to wear my earrings and I wasn't buying clips! He also started talking about cost to replace the post, so I felt that we were getting nowhere really.

I wasn't aware that the posts are not soldered but in any case for a brand new pair of earrings they should not come off just like that. To me it's not acceptable at all. After paying this amount I expect to enjoy my jewellery, not discover it's missing some important parts when I'm about to wear them for the first time.

The other earring's post feels tight. I couldn't find the post despite tipping out my bag and pouch.

I ended up writing to the store manager directly and describing the situation, so she promised me to get it fixed at their cost. I'm expecting someone to come and collect them from me soon and will keep you posted.

By the way, in your photo, the clip tension on the earring would be too tight for me; I would need a tiny bit more space for comfort (and no, I am not going to use those cheesy silicon pads to force a good fit whenever I wear earrings).

As a thought, since you are sending them in to service anyway, maybe wear them at home for a day and see if they bug you. I wrote a long post about earring fit, so maybe take this opportunity to assess: earring post thickness, earring post length, clip tension tightness, and height of earring as to what post hole you want to use. That will save you time instead of sending them back and forth.

So I had a VCA representative coming to my staycation place and she thought that she would fix the earrings on the spot but apparently what happened was a real broken post: the piece of the post which is inserted into the earring was inside so it would be impossible to fix that at all.
She suggested to put it into a higher hole but it would have looked really weird on my ears, so I just passed both earrings to her to repair at the service centre. I still have no idea how this happened as the earrings were sitting in the VCA box and then in the pouch all the way and I am still at the opinion that a golden post should not just break just like that.
@BigAkoya thanks for the suggestion! I have earrings with a similar closing mechanism and this is the exact distance which is comfortable for me otherwise the earrings don't sit straight on me and slant forwards. No complaints on that part at all.
What was good as well is that VCA rep also brought me a bottle of champagne which was a nice gesture. I am still surprised by the local SA's attitude though: you basically have to continuously fight with them to get a decent service! it is like they are trying to get rid of you at all costs

I'm glad this is worked out and you gave them both! Who knows what happened to actually break the post.
On your local SA, maybe work with a different SA. Not all SAs are the same, and I've met some average SAs who just want the sale but don't want to help with after care.

I'm so happy for you they will be fixed! P.S. I put my Alhambras on the lower hole too so they can better on my ear.
