This is what put my off mulberry's apple and olive darwin leather in the past. I love green and really fancied something in apple, but the fading really doesnt do it for me. There doesnt seem to be much consistency either about whether something will fade and look nice or fade and be a bit off putting - for example, KLP's olive ledbury looked like a lovely shade, but the Jacquetta from lovehandbags looked really weird and yellowy!

KLP hope you dont mind me using your bag(s) as an example!

Of course I don't mind Hula!

My olive Ledbury has suffered some colour change, again only noticeable once you lift the flap or look at the base. It's not bad though and certainly nothing like the olive Jacquetta monstrosity.

I haven't but I will have a Bal photo session for you some time soon. (I must admit to having 4 Days - an 08 Sapphire in very good condition but a bit stiff (scared to use it as this is a known fading colour), the 07 Black (gone green but super soft), an 06 Ink (tired but still lovely) and an 06 Lilac (badly wrecked - by its 2 previous owners - but still very cool).

The price has always been bad but it has got worse recently and the quality has gone down so I don't buy any more. I used to get a very good deal from Luisaviaroma.com when the exchange rate was in our favour.

All this talk about Bal bags make me miss my Twiggy so much and today I decided she will be out again for a spin. My 08 black Twiggy has also gone dark green, Jenova, in the piping, and it used to freak me out so much when I first found out. That's the main reason why I cross over to Mulberry. Your Bal collection seems magnificent though Jenova. Which one is Sapphire?

Which one is Sapphire?

The purple colour that they bought out just after Violet was so popular. Apparently if fades to red fast. I don't mind the Balenciaga fading too much as you usually end up with a fascinating colour. I see it as rather like Mulberry patination. However, I try to avoid the yellowing colours, particularly the sky and pale blues. I wouldn't touch one of their white bags with a bargepole.

I used to have an Aqua Joni which I bought as a pre-loved bag. When I say it was Aqua - well, this is a bit of a lie. It was still Aqua under the pocket flaps (a lovely, pale, baby blue) but the rest of the bag faded to a washed out turquoise colour with more than a hint of yellow. It was still a nice enough colour (a bit lighter and more yellow than the Mitzy turquoise) but just not Aqua. That's why I had to let it go.
It's funny, but I thought the colour change happened because it had been out and about, not because blue colours tend to change. Therefore this thread has been really interesting for me and I'm going to bear this in mind if I ever find myself lusting over another blue bag.

It must be certain blue leathers because my matt glove aqua is still its original colour and its a bag Ive used before you all laugh!

Also, my ancient ?Teal/Cobalt Congo R Saul Bucket Backet as only changed colour with wear.

Personally, I loved denim when I saw it and for it to start going yellow would really annoy me.

(Bluecat - Ill race you to Customer Services............Ive finally checked my Oak new style Jaquetta........I have never even had the stuffing out of this bag .....well guess what? Yes the piping is already pushing through the casing on one corner)

well I've posted my mabel back today so hopefully will hear from mulberry soon. If I've not heard anything by Friday I will call and speak to Kate. Hopefully you can get something sorted with your jacquetta Ellie, afterall it won't come as a surprise to them.

Here are a few pics of my fuchsia Bays, hopefully showing you how the colour has changed. For some reason, the colour gets really washed out once I upload my pics. It's not like that irl, still a very vibrant fuchsia - but now with an orange tinge!

One of the lovely SA's at HoF Belfast said this is just part of the aging process. Sure, that's to be expected over time, but this bag is only three months old!

^^ The last pic is a very good one!

It is going to be interesting to see what conclusion Mulberry comes to. I think that if the colour changes drastically, like with the fuchsia Bays, then the item is no longer what you originally bought. If you want a bluish red bag, then it should stay bluish. It is the same with green. If you want a bluish green, then it is not ok if it suddenly turns totally yellow.

I also want to point out, that the change with the fuchsia is really visible. It is not a hint of yellow, it is really yellow. The difference cannot really be seen in the pics.

^^I'm annoyed that the colour of my pics changes once I upload them. The original ones show very clearly how drastic the colour change is.

I agree that if you wanted a blueish pink bag then it should stay blueish. If I had wanted an orange-y pink bag, I would have bought one in the first place! I do still like my Bays, but it's not the same bag I bought and I'm pretty certain I'm not going to like it turning even more orange.

Can't wait to hear what Mulberry have to say about yours Linnea.

It could well be the aging process, but I like my items to remain more or less the colour they were when I bought them. IF I had bought matching shoes, they would probably not match anymore :D.

I think all colours will eventually change a bit due to sunlight, weathering etc, but this change happened very quickly and the colour just changed too much.

Here are my pics.
This shows the original colour from the underside of the strap alongside the faded colour of the rest of the bag.

This one shows the colour which is yellowing.

Another pic showing the difference in colour from the underside of the strap (deeper colour going horizontally) vs the rest of the bag. My biggest concern is that this happened in around a month and now it has started I dread what colour the bag will end up.
