I Love Louis

Only my fellow purse lovers will understand my dilemma and may be able to assist. First let me start by saying, "I love purses!!". I am currently on a three month cycle. I have been pretty consistent with Michael Kors, Coach and Cole Haan staying right around the $300 - $400 range. My husband thinks I'm crazy, and doesn't understand how I can spend our hard earned money on a new purse every three months. Well, I've been looking around for a nice tote, and I spotted the Louis Vuitton Totally Monogram MM and fell in love! I went to the LV store today hoping it wouldn't live up to my expectations in real life, and I could just forget about it, but it was even better than I thought it would be - all $970 worth! How am I going to negotiate such an increase in my spending pattern especially when I change so often? Should I not tell my husband how much it is? And what about the people I work with? I worry about going to work with such an expensive bag. What will they think? I was thinking I might say it's a replica. What are your experiences with issues like this? Any advice? Finally, are the LV monogram handbags made to last? Because issues aside, I have to have that bag.

I buy what I like, and don't ever tell anyone it is a fake - what is the point of that? Why does it matter what people at work think about what you buy?

I also don't believe in lying to your husband about how much it costs - maybe sell one of your other bags to help fund this purchase.

The monogram and damier lines are both made to last, just like any other LV product. I think it would be a great purchase, especially if you really love it!

Hi Cafebaby, I am having a similar situation with hubby about my "habit" and it got nasty last weekend after he found out i spent under $50 on a very modest Betsey Johnson (I had spent about $300ish on a new black Tribeca recently so...) As for LV, I won't even go there if i want to keep things cool with him  I like your replica idea for answer LOL, I muiht use that in the future :lolots:

No...it is not crazy........it is worth it ;) TO ME.
If it is worth it to you...that is up to you to decide.

Personally, my fave stuff is Balenciaga leather and Hermes leather...yum. :D I love my LV damier neverfull, though, it gets me through a lot of crap!

I think it just depends on what your budget will allow and whether a bag like this will satisfy you for a little while. If you have the funds to allow a $1K purchase every 3 months, then bravo; or if you do not but know that this bag will keep you happy for long enough to balance the budget, then go for it. But if you think you will want another bag from another high-end designer in 3 months and your budget will not allow it, then you ought to reconsider.

I say ANY luxury purchase is worth it if it is what you truly want - as long as it will not break the bank or put you in debt. You have a right to spend your money as you see fit as long as your bills are covered. Everyone has a different obsession, and there is nothing wrong with a bag obsession!

I am going to talk to hubby tonight about it. I really am tempted to just buy it tomorrow though regardless of how he feels about it. We all have our vices. I can just spend the next nine months worth of purses tomorrow and try to hold off for a few extra months. The heart wants what the heart wants, and having that bag will fill my heart with joy. Thanks for your support!

That's what I am looking for. I purse that carries everything I need, looks and feels good, one I love that will hold up to my abuse, because I abuse my purses. Is there one perfect purse we're searching for or is it an insatiable need for something new? Wow, am I still talking about purses?

Believe me, none of us think your crazy. Its happened to all of us! I say go for it. You seem to use your bags, then you're done with them. Why don't you try to sell them? Then you can use that money to go to your LV purchase.

I'm going to the LV store again tomorrow. I'm going to look at the bag again, put a few of my things in it to try it out, and if I still feel like I do now, I'm going to buy it. If I buy it, I promise to post pictures as soon as I get home! Thank you again! I can't wait until tomorrow!

I like LV Monograms because they age very well. I def. think it's worth to spend money for it. Hey, bags are not same as microwave or new roofs! We all need something make us feel special. Good luck!
