Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag? How did it go?

I agree with your approach about the selling/gifting bags that you haven't used for a long time. As for what it's worth, if you are not absolutely comfortable with selling off your collector's items, think about it some more. Everyone has to follow their own pace. :smile1:

Great to see you here, though! :smile1:

Thank you! :smile1: I'm trying to save up for 1 out of 2 or both of my dream bags which I believe I'll use a lot since they're classic styles.

And btw, what do you think of the Bays? Is it comfortable for shoulder wear? I am seriously considering one - it's on my "short list" at the moment.

The Bays has been my dream bag for several years, but I've refrained from purchasing it for this reason: I LOVE the oak leather, that's the only color I really like, but in my part of the country it rains and/or snows nearly every day. The oak likes to pick up water spots. I've scrutinized all the photos in the Mulberry forum, and read all the threads and decided I could never tolerate a bag with a tendency toward spotting. I would go insane. And I don't want to carry around a plastic garbage bag to slip my bag into everytime I feel a raindrop, as some do. Heck, I probably couldn't even go into a public washroom at the thought of all that water splashing around.

So I've decided to merely love it from afar and resign myself to the fact that it's utterly impractical for my life.

The gals in the Mulberry forum tell me that the chocolate and black leathers don't spot like the oak does and would be more suitable for my world. But I don't really like them.

BPSue, I know what you mean...it's not worth it owning a bag that is going to make you so nervous that you can't enjoy it. I personally am dying for an oak Mulberry (specifically, an oak leopard Alexa), as that particular bag is not quite as delicate as the regular Oak, it seems. You are right - the traditional Mulberry Oak is something truly special. I have never seen bags like those, in that they look really fantastic, even when they are beat up! Go figure.

It certainly puts the annoyance of lost packages in perspective. I live a few blocks from my post office too, and through the years have come to know most of the employees. It breaks my heart to see hardworking people in their 50s who've devoted the best years of their life to the post office, twenty years in some cases, to find themselves suddenly unemployed in this treacherous economy. What's a lost package in comparison to that disruption of a life and a family?

Very well said. I truly hope that someone with some pull in the USPS will see that they are truly understaffed and need to rehire some of the professionals that they let go. I can only imagine how tough it must be to lose your job during the holidays.

^ I understand your USPS woes.... they lost one of my insured packages up in Oregon, and there's no one except one woman at the PO who knows anything about it. She's called and left me messages twice about the package, and I've called her seven times and have not YET been able to talk to her. Everytime I call she's out or off or not available. And no one wants to take a message!!

Aw, thithi, I'm so sorry!!! Like BigPurseSue said, it appears that there are some major shakeups at the USPS going on, and that is at the heart of some of the issues - I am shocked that insured packages are being lost/misplaced so frequently, though. I still have an insured Priority Mail package that I sent on 12/24 to NY (the next state over!!!) that has not appeared, which has me very concerned. I sympathize.

But there is hope: I logged on to let you all know that my YSL hobo just arrived!!!! :yahoo:

And it is EXQUISITE...perfect in every way. I will post pics and a link to the YSL sf later on today. I am THRILLED with this bag, it was worth every penny!!!! :happydance:

^I usually go for free listing places like Craiglist/Kijiji/list4all, but then again, I've never sold anything over $500 either... I've had decent luck on Craigslist although I do get really stupid buyers every now and then.
