Gorgeous picture!
to my eye MF is very dark brown with cool, almost purplish, undertones (I had a bag in fjord MF which was stunning, my favorite brown); ebene also is very dark with cool blackish undertones (had a lovely clemence or togo picotin in this shade), and chocolate is a touch lighter with warmer red undertones (had this brown too!).
The cafe I saw at H was very close to ebene. I didn't have anything side by side but if the SA didn't tell me it was cafe, I'd have sworn it was ebene.

hermesmonkey, I forgot to mention that your Chocolate Togo Birkin is delicious! I came back to have a second look. No need to see the front even. A front view could send me seeking one! :sweatdrop:

I actually had the same debate in FSH when I picked up my box HAC - one SA said marron foncé and one said chocolate. It was never resolved (I forgot to get a final confirmation) and i still don't know the actual colour - I assumed chocolate in the end but you experts may be able to confirm/ deny! This is in natural light.

To my knowledge, all brown Box bags that are not SO's, are Chocolat; if you want Marron Foncé, you have to order it.....The standard brown used for Box is Chocolat...

Poshhoney, your HAC looks exactly the colour of my Birkin, which I ordered in Chocolat, so I'm pretty sure that's the colour of your HAC.

Totally amateur hour here. I've pasted a crop of CAFE taken in direct sunlight over hermesmonkey's lovely shot of her Chocolate and Ebene pieces. Can anyone tell me if this a true comparison of how the shades differ in real life? When I last looked at the leather book at my boutique, it didn't have CAFE in it for me to compare.

I'm still waiting to hear back from my store manager about whether cafe will be available in togo at podium as I might like a 30 Birkin in this combo. A few pages back there is a useful thread, "Browns for Birkin", where you can see examples of ebene, chocolate, cafe and havanne. Speaking of havanne -- does anyone have a photo of a havanne togo Birkin with phw? I don't want to highjack this thread, though...

Thanks MrsSparkles! I can always count on your vast knowledge! Could you please describe the browns in order of darker to lighter then? Does it go Ebene, Marron Fonce, Cafe, Havanne, Chocolate?

gazoo, I am afraid I can't help you do this with the flair like some of the other tPFers. My descriptions of colours are always way off. I can't see undertones, when alot of ladies here can. I am always wondering like "what undertones" "what overtones". Very duh of me. And I also do not own all the browns.

But I can do it simplistically, and based on the limited colours I own and what I can recall from the swatches at my store ...

- Ebene to me, is the darkest brown there is. I call it a black kind of brown.
- Marron Fonce, also a dark brown is a couple of notches down from Ebene. I have only seen MF in Togo, in a Ulysee PM. One day, I may want to own MF in Fjord in a bag ... I have heard a friend refer to it as a brown in dark chocolate
- Havanne - it's reddish brown
- Chocolate is chocolate ... Milk chocolate
- Cafe ... I remember tPFers not agreeing with this ... to me, Cafe is no difference from Chocolate. They are so close when I look at them. To be specific, I have put a Chocolate Togo swatch and Cafe Clemence swatch side by side, and I still think they are alike.
