seriously? if they were too large for your particular setting, then why did he sell it to you to begin with? you would think, as a jeweler, it's his/her job to explain to you the advantages and disadvantages of particular stones and settings, apparently he/she didn't do this.

You got me looking all my jewelry and I also miss a small diamond from a ruby and diamond necklace, and my hubby is missing the little diamond from his wedding band ... Is it a curse or something???

I had a beautiful eternity band and every month or two a diamond kept falling out. I felt horrible because my jeweler was nice about it and would replace the stone but I was afraid he'd think I was secretly making another ring on the side it fell out so much lol. Not to mention the hassle of having to go to the jeweler so often. The last time it fell I luckily found the stone (just opening the car door made it fall out). I took it back and got a different style and never bought an eternity ring after.

i went to the jeweler today and got it fixed! and i found street parking too so it was awesome!!! my ring is now complete again.

Mine just lost another diamond! :( I was carrying two huge shopping bags (wedding gifts from williams s.) and I think that's how i dislogded it. :( it's being fixed now - the diamond was only $30!!

wow all this talk of losing diamonds all the time is making me nervous about getting one as my wedding band. but i really really wanted an eternity band...

with all these problems would you advice against it? or even with the problems, would you still get one if you had to do it over again?

I have worn my shared prong wedding ring for over 2 years and haven't lost any diamonds (yet).

I do take it (and my e-ring) in to be cleaned and checked every 6 months and I remove my rings when I am doing household chores (cooking, cleaning, etc). Don't let this talk about losing diamonds deter you from getting one, I think that as long as you take care of them and get them checked regularly you will be fine

i have a few eternity bands (although nothing huge), and i agree with what kathyinjapan said about taking them off for cleaning, etc. because i am one of those people who never sleeps in my wedding rings, showers or works out with them on or anything like that. in fact, while i'm at home, i always take them off. i just don't see the purpose of keeping them on 24/7 (for me, at least). which i believe is why my rings are still in pretty good shape.

i agree, don't let these stories deter you from buying one because in the end, they are gorgeous!

oh dear.. this thread made me look at my rings... but i do know a friend who lost 2 diamonds in a pave setting. and it was just 6 mths after getting the ring too.

now, i check my ring everytime i accidentally snag or knock it against someting

Carlinha, I love love the look of mine too! But I think it depends on your lifestyle. If you want to never take them off (except for hard core things like gardening!) - wear them to the gym, to bed, to walk a dog or shop or whatever, then you might end up having to replace one every few years. It's annoying but I guess it's not the end of the world. If you want the look but don't want this to happen as much I'd suggest a channel setting which is just as pretty but the diamonds seem a bit more protected in it. :)

i had to change to a slightly different setting. it's the "new" eternity setting apparently.. i'll post pics as soon as i pick them up.

i actually had to return my original and get another new band.... the only sad thing is, it's not my real real wedding band, and also, i'm getting smaller diamonds to have it fit the setting. but none the less, excited that the ring won't lose diamonds!

i went and picked it up today!!! there's a lot more gold and it's more "sunken in" with the setting...
