Engagement ring help!

So, me and my bf are getting engaged soon as he keeps asking me for opinions on rings. I'm super excited and have decided on a 1 carat emerald cut.

The big dilemma is do I go for shoulder set or no shoulder set diamonds?

I love the fact that it blings up the ring a lot as I think emerald is a little less shiny than round cut diamonds but I worry I might regret the bling in years to come and think it's tacky.

Any thoughts on what people prefer - shoulder diamonds or no shoulder diamonds?

Don't worry about what you will or won't like in years to come. You can always redesign the ring. But you can rarely go wrong with a simple solitaire. It's such a classic! Maybe add bling to your wedding band if you are afraid you won't like the look on your e-ring.

Either is a great option! Shoulder set is beautiful and eye catching while a solitaire is a great classic choice. Both are wonderful in their own ways!

I decided on a middle ground option which is solitare with small teardrop diamonds either side. Well I'm not certain as I have not had proposal yet so I could still be surprised! I'll post pics when (and if) it happens lol. Thanks x
