My b/f was dropping hints about a week ago, but I don't think he's going to propose, I think he's just upgrading my promise ring that he gave me over a year ago. Which is fine, I'll take that! :p I'd like a proposal, but I don't think it's going to happen just yet, neither one of us is done with school/have real jobs. Maybe next year if it doesn't happen this year! :graucho:

even though we have been married for 16 years now, we got engaged 2 days after thanksgiving in vail. every year (until my daughter was about 2), we would go up to breckenridge during thanksgiving and ski, and then our tradition was to go to vail on the saturday after thanksgiving (about an hour from breck) and buy an ornament with vail and the year written on it. this year (1993) we went out to a lovely restaurant, took a horse and carriage ride through vail and my husband popped the question as we were in the snowfilled mountains of vail with holiday lights everywhere while we were on the horse & carriage ride. it was a perfect proposal. he hid the ring in the hood of his ski jacket the entire time.

i cannot believe he pulled it off. it was perfect!

Thirty-three years ago on 30 December I drove from NJ to RI to spend the New Year with my then boyfriend. When I arrived at his apartment and gave him his Christmas gift (something he had really wanted) he tossed it on the bed and said "your present is still in the store as usual". I was pretty disappointed. Then he asked me to get something out of this dresser drawer and when I opened it, there was a 1/2 ct oval diamond ring! I was so shocked that I asked "is this for me?" We still laugh about that. We had a wonderful New Year's Eve and have been happily married for over 32 years.

It's SO PRETTY!!

Not an engagement at Christmas but my fiance and I are getting married tomorrow!! Its actually an elopement as our families don't know about it.
I think Mum will kill me!! No, we have been together for 16 years (high school sweethearts) and have a 3 year old son. So, getting married is the perfect way to celebrate Christmas this year for us and it will just be an intimate aoccasion with our son, Charlie and 2 witnesses. But biy, will my family get a shock when we tell them tomrorow night!

Nelly......good luck :hugs:

You know........just don't regret anything. For me, the ONLY thing I would have done differently is gone to Italy & had my wedding in the Vatican as our close family priest suggested. He was very, very close with Pope John Paul II (we have a signed marital certificate by him)

But in hindsight, our wedding was beautiful.....and my Grandmother was there.....if we'd have eloped I'd have missed out on that.......but then, I guess you don't miss what you don't know!

Sorry for the ramble......trust your gut......if it's right in your heart, then it's right.
